In 2015, after Honeywell acquired Thomas Russell Co., Mr. Pelus became the lead electrical and Controls engineer for cryogenic gas plants. Over the past decade, he designed the electrical and controls systems for 191 gas plants, frequently acting as a liaison between engineering and construction teams. His expertise extends to projects with the Callidus group, focusing on burners and flares, further demonstrating his versatility within the field.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Pelus began his professional journey at Ambitech Engineering Corporation in Downers Grove, Illinois, in 2004. The company was later acquired by Zachary Engineering. At Ambitech, he gained foundational experience that would inform his later achievements in Electrical distribution and Controls design.

Throughout his career, Mr. Pelus has developed expertise in arc flash analysis, electrical designs, single-line diagrams, cable tray layouts, cable tray sizing and cable tray calculations from 35KVAC systems down to 24VDC systems. His technical proficiency is complemented by a commitment to field experience for new engineers, a philosophy that emphasizes relationship-building and operational understanding.

Mr. Pelus commitment to precision extends beyond the engineering field — in competitive shooting, he demonstrated remarkable accuracy by striking a 34-inch-by-34-inch target from a distance of one mile (1760 yards), earning fourth place in the ELR Competition.

Mr. Pelus' academic background includes a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering technology from Purdue University, earned in 2003. This education provided a strong foundation for his technical skills and problem-solving abilities. He holds a certificate in fire and gas design analysis for ISA code through Kenexis as well as certifications 3 phase arc flash analysis from SKM.

Born in Elizabeth, Mr. Pelus enjoys horseback riding, spending time with his dogs, participating in PRS & ELR shooting competitions and playing golf during his personal time.

Additionally, Mr. Pelus is involved with development of control systems offering for Honeywell UOP pyrolysis plants, a technology pioneered by Honeywell UOP for recycling plastics into feedstocks suitable for food and beverage applications. This initiative addresses purity concerns associated with recycled plastics by breaking down the plastics into purified feed stock that will then be re-entered back into the commercial supply chains.
