LOS ANGELES, CA, July 23, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ — On July 18, 2026, volunteers with the Hollywood Neighborhood Cleanup joined together to beautify several blocks in Hollywood, demonstrating community service inspired by The Way to Happiness by L. Ron Hubbard.

Throughout the cleanup, volunteers introduced themselves to residents, business owners, and visitors, explaining that they were donating their time to help improve the neighborhood. The positive response from the community was overwhelmingly encouraging.

The volunteer team began by cleaning Franklin Avenue before continuing south toward Hollywood Boulevard. As they worked their way through the area, the group also shared copies of The Way to Happiness with local business owners, workers, and tourists.

One memorable encounter took place with a man selling sightseeing bus tours on Hollywood Boulevard. Upon receiving a booklet, he immediately recognized it.

"I know this book! I read this when I was in prison," he said. "Whenever I would read this book, it would just bring me calm. Sometimes you just gotta read, you know, and I remember this book."

At a neighborhood coffee shop, an employee accepted a copy, began reading it immediately, and was so enthusiastic that she invited the volunteers to leave a stack of booklets on the counter for customers.

The outreach continued with many positive interactions. A local resident stopped to thank the volunteers, commenting that the neighborhood benefits from cleanup efforts like these. Glen, who works with the Hollywood Partnership and helps keep Hollywood Boulevard clean each day, also thanked the volunteers for their efforts.

Cleanup coordinator Nick Kurtz also handed out bundles of booklets, asking people, "Do you like to help people?" He said the book promotes simple ideas such as helping parents, caring for children, being a good neighbor, and making the community better, and encouraged recipients to pass copies along. "The response was incredible," Kurtz said. "Once people understand what the book is about, they're eager to share it with others."

For more than eight years, Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre International has supported initiatives to help beautify Hollywood and share the basic principles of The Way to Happiness, which promote caring for one's environment.

Written by humanitarian and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard, The Way to Happiness promotes positive values and personal responsibility. "Happiness lies in engaging in worthwhile activities," wrote Mr. Hubbard in the booklet.
