CLIFTON, VA, July 28, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Barry Michael has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Michael has established a distinguished career spanning five decades, marked by intrapreneurial and entrepreneurial leadership and a commitment to advancing biomedical innovation. Since 2012, he has served as the founder of Biomedical Commercialization LLC, where he provides consulting services to entrepreneurs developing biomedical-based products, primarily in the medical device sector.

Drawing on a career spanning engineering science, military service, corporate leadership and entrepreneurship, Mr. Michael's guidance has helped startups and established companies navigate complex commercialization challenges, with a particular focus on identifying market assumptions and mitigating risks that often hinder promising innovations. He considers his most notable achievement to be successfully launching and profitably growing biomedical technologies, thriving in the dynamic environment of new products where many ventures falter due to competition or factors beyond technical capability.

Prior to this role, Mr. Michael was the founder of Multiplex Clinical Diagnostics LLC in Clifton, Virginia, a business held from 2010 to 2012. In this capacity, he leveraged his expertise to support multiplex clinical diagnostics initiatives, further solidifying his total career in life sciences entrepreneurship.

Mr. Michael began his medical device corporate career at Abbott Diagnostics in 1977, initially training as a salesperson before advancing to marketing manager and then sales manager. Later at Kimberly-Clark during his tenure, he managed a sales team of 70 professionals and achieved $100 million in annual sales. He also managed two Strategic Business Units.

His leadership philosophy emphasizes collaboration across all levels of expertise and skill, fostering an environment where both seasoned professionals and newcomers can contribute meaningfully.

In addition to his corporate achievements, Mr. Michael served as a Supply Corps officer in the United States Navy. He was also a waveguide commander responsible for leading Marine amphibious tanks onto potentially hostile beaches during the period before the United States withdrew from Vietnam.

As part of his professional journey, Mr. Michael has secured patents for footwear protection designed for individuals working in operating rooms and for a cut-down surgical drape aimed at assisting cancer patients. He is also an active member of VirginiaBio, reflecting his ongoing commitment to industry advancement.

Mr. Michael's academic foundation includes a Master of Business Administration, earned in 1976, with an emphasis on strategic planning from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania. He holds a Bachelor of Science in engineering science from Brown University.

His passion for engineering and science began during high school and at Brown he balanced both technical disciplines and the liberal arts during his university studies.

Civically engaged throughout his life, Mr. Michael supported Therapeutic Riding Program for Children for eight years. He has also contributed as a sports coach with the Arthur Ashe National Junior Tennis League — now known as National Junior Tennis & Learning — under the United States Tennis Association for one year, volunteered as a baseball coach in California and provided basketball coaching for children in Athens, Georgia.

Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, Mr. Michael has enjoyed caring for horses and maintaining his 3.5-acre farm. His personal interests have included biking and playing tennis. Currently, he is involved in new technology related to rare-earth elements, aiming to help project leaders translate technical skills into successful startups. He also seeks opportunities to collaborate with engineering students at George Mason University on Capstone projects and continues to engage in unpaid consulting work throughout Virginia.
