Dr. Smay possesses significant expertise in medicine, pediatric anesthesiology and healthcare administration. With over a decade of industry experience, she has led Montgomery Anesthesia Service, PC, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as its founder and chief executive officer since 2013. There, she and her team specialize in advanced monitoring methods and innovative treatments to prioritize patient safety. Using her skills and breadth of experience in pediatric and clinical anesthesiology, Dr. Smay is especially dedicated to helping her patients and ensuring they receive the highest-quality care.

Previously, Dr. Smay was the medical director at NorthStar Anesthesia in Muskogee, Oklahoma, from 2020 to 2023 and concurrently served as its regional medical director for the Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri regions from 2022 to 2023. Additionally, she worked as a pediatric anesthesiologist at Hillcrest Healthcare System in Tulsa between 2019 and 2020 and at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City from 2017 to 2019. Her experience also included working at St. John Health System in Tulsa from 2014 to 2017 and serving as an assistant professor at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center from 2012 to 2014.

With a focus on scholarly achievement, Dr. Smay first earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Duke University in 1995, followed by a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 2007. Upon receipt of her degrees, she completed an anesthesiology residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine from 2007 to 2011, followed by a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship in 2012. Aiming for leadership roles in healthcare, she also obtained a Master of Business Administration in health sector management from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in 2023 and completed the Black Corporate Board Readiness Program at the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University in 2024.

Dr. Smay is actively affiliated with organizations to remain abreast of developments in the ever-evolving medical industry, including the American Board of Anesthesiologists, the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Society for Pediatric Anesthesiology. She has also served on the advisory boards of Transdermal Solutions LLC since 2021 and the Diabetes Reversal Group since 2025.

Dr. Smay attributes much of her success to her innate curiosity, ambition, desire to make a positive impact and emphasis on lifelong learning. She also credits her tenure at NorthStar Anesthesia for building her business acumen, which established the foundation for her achievements at Montgomery Anesthesia Service.
