Dr. Ramakrishnan is one of only approximately 400 board-certified pediatricians who specialize in integrative medicine in the United States. Moreover, she joins an exclusive group of less than 100 practitioners nationwide who have completed fellowships in both pediatrics and integrative medicine.

Setting a strong foundation for her career, Dr. Sreemdevi Ramakrishnan completed her residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria. She held the position of chief resident of pediatrics in 2007 and was honored with the Outstanding Chief Resident of the Year Award. Alongside completing her residency in 2008, she received the Resident Research Award (UICOMP, Peoria). Dr. Ramakrishnan went on to establish a thriving outpatient pediatric practice in the Chicago area while concurrently working as a pediatric hospitalist. Her experience includes managing newborns in neonatal intensive care units, Level 1 and Level 2, and serving as the medical director of the Walter Lawson Children's Home, where she cared for more than 100 children with chronic and complex health conditions. In that capacity, she became the inaugural recipient of the Excellence in Asthma Care Blue Ribbon Award.

Further demonstrating her dedication to continued growth and lifelong learning, Dr. Ramakrishnan has pursued additional certifications and specialized training. She is certified as an Ayurvedic lifestyle consultant, empowering her to integrate traditional healing practices into her pediatric care. Enhancing her ability to counsel families on nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices, Dr. Ramakrishnan completed the Culinary Health Education Fundamentals (CHEF) program at Harvard Medical School. She has also attended workshops in clinical hypnosis through The National Pediatric Hypnosis Training Institute(NPHTI).

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Ramakrishnan is deeply engaged in civic initiatives aimed at improving children's health outcomes. In 2024, she founded the Thrive Kids Foundation, a nonprofit organization created to address the rising prevalence of chronic disease among children by advancing education, community engagement, and awareness around pediatric health. Through the foundation, she supports research projects, mentors students at several high schools, and fosters interest in healthcare among young people.
