The agency's workforce has expanded from seven to 19 employees, a development Mr. Wilson considers among his most rewarding achievements.

Before founding Wilson Risk Partners, Mr. Wilson served as vice president at Ryan Insurance, a member of Acrisure, beginning in 2019. During his tenure, he relocated in 2016 from Kansas City, MO to Pittsburgh, KS to assume leadership of the agency that his father-in-law owned (Ryan Insurance), which in 2019 became part of Acrisure. In this role, he continued to build on his reputation for managing complex insurance portfolios and fostering strong client relationships.

Before joining Ryan Insurance, Mr. Wilson spent 19 years with Med James, a wholesaler based in Overland Park, KS. His work there further solidified his standing as an expert in excess and surplus lines insurance. Earlier in his career, Mr. Wilson began at his father's agency in Joplin, MO, in 1970, moving to Kansas City in 1986 where he dedicated 22 years to specializing in excess and surplus lines, dedicated group program development (rodeo, carnival, water parks, durable medical equipment) with Haas Wilkerson in Fairway, KS and Med James, a wholesaler in Overland Park, KS.

Mr. Wilson is actively involved in professional organizations that reflect his commitment to advancing the insurance field. He is a member of the Kansas Governor's Board of Workers' Compensation, NCCI and the Kansas Insurance and Financial Services Education Foundation.

His academic background includes earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and government from the University of the South (Sewanee) in 1970. The analytical skills and ethical foundation gained through his education have been instrumental throughout his career. Mr. Wilson attributes much of his success to a deep love for people and an unwavering commitment to integrity and honesty—principles that have guided every aspect of his professional journey.

Beyond his business endeavors, Mr. Wilson has demonstrated a longstanding dedication to civic engagement and philanthropy. He has contributed to numerous local organizations and charities through donations and active participation. In the mid-1970s, he served on the board of directors for Commerce Bank in Joplin and maintains involvement with Our Lady of Lourdes.
