LARNED, KS, August 04, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- John Blackwell has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Most recently serving as the principal owner of John Blackwell Farms, Mr. Blackwell has led a distinguished career of over 50 years in the Kansas agricultural industry. In his current capacity since 2024, he oversees the cultivation of wheat, corn and soybeans, demonstrating his steadfast commitment to sustainable farming practices, sales management and team building. His perseverance was notably tested during a recent challenging season, when he successfully maintained a thriving corn crop despite adverse conditions. Although it did not fully meet his financial requirements, the yield proved profitable, underscoring his resilience and determination to overcome obstacles within the agribusiness sector.
Alongside his work at John Blackwell Farms, Mr. Blackwell has served his community as the owner of HH Feed Lot since 1969. Over the course of more than five decades, he has managed all aspects of cattle feeding operations, drawing on a lifetime of experience rooted in family tradition. His leadership, expertise and adaptability have contributed significantly to the growth and reputation of his business ventures.
In addition to his professional responsibilities, Mr. Blackwell has held several influential positions within industry-related organizations throughout Pawnee County, Kansas, and beyond. He served as a director for Midwest Energy Inc. from 1987 to 2025, providing strategic guidance during a period of significant change in the energy sector. As trustee for Kansas Electric Cooperative for 12 years, he played a pivotal role in shaping policy and advancing cooperative initiatives. His nine-year tenure as a board member for High Plains Farm Credit further reflects his dedication to supporting agricultural finance and the continued development of rural towns.
Mr. Blackwell's commitment to service is exemplified by his 36-year tenure on various boards, where he held key positions including chairman, vice chairman, secretary and treasurer. Among his most significant achievements was being elected president of the Kansas Electric Cooperative for two years — a role that required exceptional leadership and was highly competitive among its nearly 40 members.
Before venturing onto his professional path, Mr. Blackwell completed coursework in animal science and economics at Kansas State University. Reflecting on his storied agricultural journey, he attributes much of his success to the perseverance instilled in him by his grandfather, who encouraged him from an early age to master the intricacies of cattle farming and make productive use of the family's land. Growing up on a farm in Great Bend and following in the footsteps of his parents and grandparents, farming quickly became an integral part of his identity.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Blackwell has demonstrated a strong commitment to civic engagement as volunteer and chairman of the board for the Pawnee County Zoning Commission. His leadership in this capacity reflects a broader dedication to community development and responsible land use planning.
On a personal level, Mr. Blackwell leads a rich family life alongside his wife Nancy and their son and daughter. He especially enjoys spending time with his grandchildren who live nearby and visit frequently, cherishing these moments as a vital aspect of his life outside of his work and leadership in the agriculture industry.
