Today, Mr. Davis serves as a senior building performance specialist at IBACOS, a role he has held since 2021 following more than a decade with the company in various capacities. In this partially retired position, he provides part-time consulting and educational support to production home builder divisions across the country. His responsibilities include conducting building performance seminars, leading one-hour training sessions after each site visit to review field observations, highlight effective practices and identify opportunities for quality improvement. Additionally, he performs on-site walkthroughs of homes, helping builders recognize both strengths and growth areas—a process he estimates he has completed thousands of times throughout his career.

From 2009 to 2022, Mr. Davis was employed as a building performance specialist at IBACOS. During this period, he became known for his dual focus on education and hands-on evaluation. Prior to joining IBACOS, he served as quality assurance manager at John Laing Homes, part of John Laing Group Limited, from 2005 to 2008. Based in Long Beach, California, with divisions in Colorado, he was responsible for overseeing quality control processes during a period of significant industry change. His tenure concluded when the company ceased operations during the economic downturn of 2008. For the preceding two years, he was a training program manager at Quality Built.

A formative chapter in Mr. Davis's career unfolded during his time with Habitat for Humanity International from 1996 to 2003. Initially building homes in Kansas City, he was soon invited to participate in a symposium in Atlanta focused on integrating building science principles into Habitat's plan book. This experience proved transformative; upon returning to Kansas City, he began constructing homes that were notably more energy-efficient and durable. His innovative approach garnered attention from Habitat for Humanity International, which led to his appointment as senior technical advisor and green team manager. In this national leadership role, Mr. Davis spearheaded the Green Team initiative—traveling extensively to train affiliates and present at conferences on best practices in affordable housing construction. He takes particular pride in guiding numerous affiliates into participation with Building America and Energy Star programs, helping shift the industry toward homes that offer greater durability, affordability and health benefits for families.

Mr. Davis's commitment to advancing building science is further reflected in his service on the board of directors for the Energy & Environmental Building Alliance (EEBA). Through this involvement, he forged connections that would later lead him to IBACOS after collaborating with its founders at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference in 2008.

Academically, Mr. Davis's formal education concluded with a high school diploma earned shortly before entering the workforce. Eschewing traditional academics for hands-on experience, he credits his success to lessons learned through practical application—the so-called "school of hard knocks." His passion for providing families with decent, affordable housing was ignited during his years with Habitat for Humanity, where he witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by homeowners whose utility costs sometimes exceeded their mortgage payments. This realization cemented his lifelong dedication to improving residential construction standards through building science.

Throughout his career spanning more than three decades, Mr. Davis has been recognized as an expert in building science—a distinction underscored by his selection as a member of Pro Builder magazine's Young Guns & Legends Class of 2025. This honor celebrates leaders who have made significant contributions to the home building industry over their careers.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Davis supports various charitable causes financially and maintains an enduring relationship with Habitat for Humanity International. He looks back fondly on leading Global Village teams abroad—building homes alongside volunteers in England, Romania and Fiji—and regards these experiences as both joyful and deeply meaningful.

In his personal life, Mr. Davis lives in Colorado with his wife. Together they have two adult children and a grandchild. He seeks to be remembered as someone who loves God, his family and his work. An avid mountain biker who also enjoyed skiing until knee problems intervened about a decade ago, Mr. Davis hopes that recent surgeries will allow him to return to the slopes once again.
