She is known for building strong professional relationships with her students throughout their academic journey.

Prior to her appointment as program director, Mrs. Marshall served as a clinical instructor at San Jacinto College from 2021 to 2023. In this role, she led students into hospital environments to demonstrate clinical practices firsthand, further bridging the gap between academic instruction and patient care. Her effectiveness as an educator was recognized by her former program director, who recommended her for the leadership position she now holds.

From 2020 to 2024, Mrs. Marshall worked as a registered respiratory therapist-neonatal/pediatric specialist at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston within the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the United States. There, she cared for patients from around the world, some of which were flown in for specialized treatment. Her bedside work allowed her to form meaningful connections with families and patients during critical moments, a facet of her career that she deeply values.

Mrs. Marshall's earlier clinical experience includes serving as a registered respiratory therapist at Texas Children's Hospital from 2014 to 2020, where she specialized in pediatric intensive care and further developed her skills in neonatology and pediatrics. From 2012 to 2014, she contributed to Children's Medical Center Dallas as a respiratory therapist, gaining exposure to diverse patient populations and complex cases, finding a passion to care for patients with congenital heart defects. Mrs. Marshall began her professional journey at University Health in San Antonio from 2011 to 2012 after earning her undergraduate degree.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Marshall has been committed to advancing the field through research and scholarship. While pursuing graduate studies, she conducted research focused on remediation challenges from the faculty perspective, specifically identifying students who require additional support to improve retention rates amid a nationwide shortage of respiratory care faculty. The abstract was published in the October 2025 issue of Respiratory Care and presented at an open forum education session during the American Association for Respiratory Care Congress in December 2025. She is currently revising the full manuscript for further publication.

Demonstrating her commitment to the field, Mrs. Marshall is an active member of several professional organizations. These include the American Association for Respiratory Care, Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.

Mrs. Marshall's academic achievements have laid a strong foundation for her professional success. She earned a Master of Science in Respiratory Care with a concentration in polysomnography from Texas State University in San Marcos in 2024. She previously completed a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care at Texas State University in 2011 and holds a pediatric and neonatal specialty credential from The National Board for Respiratory Care. Notably, she was named valedictorian of her high school class and included in Who's Who Among American High School Students.

Initially intending to become a physician, Mrs. Marshall was drawn to health care by a desire to help others while balancing family commitments, a value instilled by observing her grandmother, a health care worker who managed long shifts while raising a family. Discovering that several family members had respiratory conditions, specifically her grandmother, further motivated Mrs. Marshall to enter this field so she could make a difference both professionally and personally.

Reflecting on her career, Mrs. Marshall credits much of her success to the unwavering support of family and friends who celebrate her achievements even though she may not always pause to do so herself. Her advice to others is to stay true to themselves in every arena, trusting that the right people and opportunities will follow. She often approaches challenges unconventionally, driven by a strong-willed nature and a deep desire to understand things fully.

Mrs. Marshall's civic engagement extends beyond academia into volunteerism through San Jacinto College-sponsored community events, where she leads and mentors respiratory care students using these events to connect the students with the community.

Born in San Antonio, TX, Mrs. Marshall enjoys indoor planting and spending time with family and friends outside of her professional commitments.
