SEBRING, FL, August 17, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Eric Cohen has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Cohen's distinguished career in cybersecurity and information privacy spans more than 25 years, marked by a series of progressively responsible roles and significant contributions to both the public and private sectors. He currently serves as fractional chief information security officer and data privacy officer at SoterraOne (SoterraOne.com), where he serves as the Chief Information Security Officer and Data Privacy Officer for an early-stage company, and as an advisor to the Chief Executive Officer of a stealth-stage artificial intelligence startup, guiding security architecture, privacy engineering and AI governance from the company's inception. He assumed both roles in 2026.

Previously, from 2013 to 2026, Mr. Cohen served as Vice President of cybersecurity, governance, risk and compliance, and chief privacy architect at Genesys, a cloud-native contact center and customer experience platform built on Amazon Web Services, working remotely from Sebring, Florida. In this capacity, Mr. Cohen advised teams across privacy, cybersecurity, compliance and artificial intelligence, mentored security professionals, provided technical guidance on security architecture and compliance matters and conducted research on emerging security technologies.

Among Mr. Cohen's most notable achievements at Genesys was the development of comprehensive product security within a pioneering cloud environment. He built and mentored a 60-person organization spanning security architecture, DevSecOps, penetration testing, and governance, risk and compliance; introduced 17 compliance standards and certifications to the product; and helped safeguard more than 11,000 corporate clients and 70 million end users as the company scaled past $1 billion in annual recurring revenue. This accomplishment underscored his ability to establish robust security frameworks while driving substantial business growth.

Prior to his tenure at Genesys, Mr. Cohen held the position of senior manager of information security at Allscripts, now Veradigm LLC, from 2012 to 2013. There, he reported directly to the chief security officer and oversaw critical aspects of information security for the organization's health care technology solutions. In 2012, he also served as global account security manager at CSC, acting as virtual chief information security officer for a critical-infrastructure managed security contract supporting National Grid, where he directed internal and external audits for PCI, NERC-CIP, HIPAA and SOX requirements in the United States and the United Kingdom.

From 2007 to 2011, Mr. Cohen was the data center federal manager and contracting officers technical representative at Data Center Two for the United States Department of Homeland Security. During this period, he played a pivotal role in building the cybersecurity operations center for the department's new East Coast data center, a project initiated after the post-9/11 consolidation of more than 30 disparate federal agency data centers within DHS. Arriving at a greenfield site with only a building shell in place, Mr. Cohen designed and established the security operations center from scratch, demonstrating exceptional leadership and technical expertise during a critical period of national infrastructure development.

Additionally, from 2007 to 2009, Mr. Cohen served as the chief information security officer at Data Center Two for General Dynamics Information Technology Inc., where he directed information security initiatives supporting federal clients. His earlier experience includes managing ITS information security at RTI International from 2006 to 2007, where he built the information security division from the ground up, and serving as an IT specialist and information security officer with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs from 2003 to 2006.

Mr. Cohen's early civilian cybersecurity career included his time as a senior network security engineer at Branch Banking and Trust, now known as Truist, from 2000 to 2003. He was responsible for securing critical banking infrastructure during a period of rapid technological advancement in financial services. His initial management experience came as an IT manager at Hudd Distribution in Suffolk, Virginia, from 1996 to 1999.

Throughout his career, Mr. Cohen has been actively involved with several professional organizations that reflect his commitment to advancing industry standards and knowledge sharing. He is a member of InfraGard National Members Alliance Inc., serves on the advisory board of IAPP and maintains affiliations with ISC2 Inc., ISSA International and the National Eagle Scout Association.

Mr. Cohen's educational background includes earning a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and education from Ashford University in 2010. He has also completed Harvard University's Contract Law: From Trust to Promise to Contract certificate program and earned a Certificate of Achievement in Forensics from the Rochester Institute of Technology. His academic pursuits have provided him with a strong foundation in understanding human behavior and effective teaching methodologies, skills that have proven invaluable in both his professional roles and mentoring activities.

In addition to his formal education, Mr. Cohen has further distinguished himself through a range of recent certifications. Between 2025 and 2026, he earned multiple credentials from OneTrust LLC, including the Tech Risk and Compliance Track Badge and certifications in Data Subject Request Automation, Data Mapping Automation, Third-Party Management, and Incident Management. He also completed Google's Prompting Essentials certification in 2025. These recent achievements build on his 2024 AI Governance and Introduction to AI Governance certifications from Securiti, reflecting continued specialization at the intersection of privacy, risk management and artificial intelligence.

More broadly, Mr. Cohen maintains a distinguished portfolio of internationally recognized credentials across cybersecurity, privacy and cloud security. These include the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) designations from ISC2; the Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) and Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) designations from the International Association of Privacy Professionals; and the Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK) and DCCS credentials.

Mr. Cohen attributes his success primarily to his upbringing — his parents' emphasis on education and strong values — and his formative experiences over almost two decades of Navy submarine service, from which he retired as a chief petty officer. Serving on fast-attack submarines instilled mission focus, operational excellence, preparedness for unexpected challenges, and an understanding that effective security must enable business operations rather than impede them. His military background provided him with unique insights into redundancy, discipline, and integrity — qualities that have remained central throughout his career.

After initially pursuing computer science studies but feeling unprepared for higher education at age 17, Mr. Cohen joined the Navy, where he performed diverse roles including driving submarines, operating ballast tank controls, and preparing classified mission reports. Following military service, he transitioned into cybersecurity by becoming the director of cybersecurity at a startup, a role that required hands-on learning and adaptability.

Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Mr. Cohen is deeply committed to community engagement and knowledge sharing within the field of cybersecurity. He provides free advice to private investment firms evaluating startups, mentors individuals outside his company's purview, taught cybersecurity boot camps at universities such as North Carolina State University and Florida State University and maintained ongoing relationships with mentees long after formal programs conclude.

Mr. Cohen's civic involvement extends to membership in OWASP, reflecting his dedication to advancing open-source software security standards globally. Among numerous accolades recognizing his professional excellence are the Fellow of Information Privacy distinction awarded by IAPP in 2019, as well as a commendation medal received during his service with the United States Navy.

Outside his professional pursuits, Mr. Cohen enjoys restoring old cars and motorcycles. Looking ahead, he is pursuing full time employment, while continuing to maintain his fractional executive and advisory work, mentoring aspiring professionals and continue teaching cybersecurity, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to sharing knowledge and fostering the development of future generations of cybersecurity experts.
