During this period, he assumed oversight of treasury operations, financial planning and analysis. Notably, he played a pivotal role in guiding the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic. During this challenging time, he supported the interim chief executive officer as they navigated one of the most difficult periods in company history, ensuring that employees were cared for while positioning Myriad Genetics for future success.
Between 2018 and 2020, Mr. Wheeler served as senior vice president of accounting at Myriad Genetics, Inc., where he oversaw standard accounting functions, technical accounting, Securities and Exchange Commission reporting, general ledger management, payroll and tax operations. He was also responsible for procurement and facilities groups during this tenure.
From 2014 to 2018, Mr. Wheeler advanced to vice president and corporate controller at Myriad Genetics, Inc., managing all aspects of corporate accounting functions while supporting organizational growth through mergers and acquisitions.
His earlier experience at Myriad Genetics includes serving as division controller from 2011 to 2014. In this role, he acted as a lower-level chief financial officer for a newly acquired division during a phase marked by significant mergers and acquisitions activity.
Prior to joining Myriad Genetics, Mr. Wheeler began his professional journey at Ernst & Young from 2009 to 2011 within their audit practice. He managed a diverse portfolio of public company clients across healthcare, technology, automotive parts manufacturing and airlines sectors.
Before entering public accounting, Mr. Wheeler worked at Deseret First Credit Union from 2004 to 2009 as a corporate relations specialist and consumer loan officer.
Among his most satisfying professional experiences was leading an international finance organization comprised of approximately 15 members located between Zurich and Munich. The team represented many different nationalities—a diversity that enriched his leadership experience as he worked closely with each member during an Oracle implementation across international entities.
Mr. Wheeler is recognized as an expert in acquisitions and divestitures; managing capital markets in both debt and equity; people development; and growth strategies—achievements that underscore his commitment to excellence in finance leadership. He is an active member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and UACPA.
