NORTHVILLE, MI, August 18, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cindy Miao, MS, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Miao has established a distinguished career spanning three decades, marked by progressive leadership roles and a reputation for driving digital transformation within higher education and the financial sector. Since 2023, she has served as senior director for enterprise applications at Wayne State University, where she oversees operational oversight, system performance maintenance, strategic planning and financial management. In this capacity, she has been instrumental in reorganizing her team into four specialized departments to better support the university's academic, administrative and enterprise resource planning needs. Her forward-thinking approach has led to the successful digitalization of administrative workflows, eliminating manual processes and fostering institutional trust through hands-on leadership. Notably, she spearheaded the deployment of a human resources hiring request workflow within 10 months, followed by additional digital system rollouts completed in just three months each.

Before her promotion to her current role, Ms. Miao held the position of director of core applications at Wayne State University for two years. In this role, she managed backend communication technology and the foundational infrastructure required to support the university's application systems.

In addition, she has served as principal of the Michigan New Century Chinese Center since 2021, where she manages hands-on operations for a school serving approximately 300 students. Also at this organization, she has been the secretary on the board of directors for over 15 years, contributing to the promotion of cultural understanding and community engagement as a first-generation immigrant from China.

Ms. Miao's professional journey includes significant experience in the financial industry. As a principal architect at Ally Financial Inc. from 2019 to 2020, she was responsible for implementing a converged system that integrated database, server and network infrastructure—an initiative critical to ensuring security, speed and performance in banking operations. Her work at Ally Financial reinforced her understanding of the importance of IT infrastructure in supporting strict governance and customer service excellence.

Prior to her time at Ally Financial, Ms. Miao spent eight years with General Electric Company's Corporate Exadata Center of Excellence from 2013 to 2021. She managed operations for more than 2,000 databases and served as the primary interface for both internal and external customers across nearshore, onshore and offshore teams. During her first year at General Electric Company, she was selected for the prestigious corporate leadership program—later known as a legacy leadership program—where she received advanced training in change acceleration process systems and influential leadership skills.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Miao worked as an architect and Oracle database administrator at General Electronic Commerce Services from 2010 to 2013. She began her professional journey at Flagstar Bank from 2000 to 2010 as a senior Oracle database administrator, mastering core IT skills and earning multiple Oracle Certified Professional credentials for versions 8, 9 and 10.

Academically, Ms. Miao's academic background is rooted in both science and engineering. She earned a Master of Science in Electrical Computer Engineering from Wayne State University in Detroit in 1998 after completing a Bachelor of Science in Physical Chemistry at Nankai University in China in 1995. Her transition from chemistry to information technology was driven by her immigration experience and the opportunities presented during the industry's rapid expansion in the United States.

Ms. Miao's dedication has been recognized through multiple excellence awards for community service as well as Wayne State University's Trailblazer Award for her impactful digital transformation initiatives. Overall, she attributes her success to persistence and an unwavering commitment to lifelong learning—qualities that have enabled her to excel across diverse technical domains and leadership roles.

Ms. Miao's civic involvement is equally notable. As a youth Sunday school instructor and mentor at her local church, she guides adolescents through personal challenges while fostering healthy parent-child relationships as a coach for families within her congregation. Through her mentorship with Yumi—a nonprofit organization dedicated to youth advocacy—she supports Generation Z individuals navigating social media pressures, isolation and emotional expression by teaching critical-thinking strategies for psychological wellness.

Outside of her professional commitments, Ms. Miao enjoys intellectual pursuits like problem-solving, philosophy and criminal investigations. She volunteers several hours each week, assisting with cold case investigations using advanced data analysis techniques to help resolve unsolved crimes.

Ms. Miao is deeply proud of her close relationship with her daughter, who is currently attending college away from home. Looking toward the future, Ms. Miao's aspirations include launching a YouTube or podcast channel to share her professional insights and personal journey—particularly aimed at empowering other first-generation immigrants—and providing thought leadership on adapting to advancements in artificial intelligence. She seeks to be a dependable and approachable person who can offer wisdom to others.
