Prior to joining The Interface Financial Group, Ms. Ahmed built a solid foundation in financial services by working for five years at several major Canadian banks, including Desjardins, TD and Scotiabank, as well as at a credit union. During this period, she advanced through roles in credit and underwriting, gaining valuable experience that would later inform her leadership at The Interface Financial Group.
Ms. Ahmed's academic background includes a master's degree in finance from The George Washington University in 2010 and a chartered management accounting degree from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 2004. Beyond her formal education, she attributes much of her success to an enduring passion for learning about credit and commercial finance, as well as to mentorship from George Shapiro, Chairman of The Interface Financial Group. His guidance provided her with critical resources and opportunities for exploration within the industry. Additionally, she credits her achievements to continuous self-education through reading and participation in seminars focused on invoice finance, supply chain finance and commercial finance.
Outside her professional accomplishments, Ms. Ahmed is actively engaged in civic initiatives. She volunteers with IRUSA and the Domestic Violence Against Women Association in the Washington, D.C. area and supports Homes Not Borders, reflecting a commitment to social responsibility alongside her business pursuits.
Ms. Ahmed's contributions have been recognized with several honors, including the Canadian Lenders Award for Commercial Underwriting in the Youngest Achievement Category and the Canadian Mortgage Award for Most Closings In A Year. She has also received various awards at conferences organized by The Interface Financial Group.
Born in Montreal, Ms. Ahmed has been married to Azer Akhtar since November 2007 and is the mother of twin sons and a daughter. In her free time, she enjoys trying new dessert places, reading murder mysteries, traveling and watching science fiction films.
