Since 2017, Mr. Sheils has served as regional vice president for sales and account management for national accounts at Anthem Inc. in Richmond, Virginia. During his tenure, he also held leadership responsibilities involving specialty sales and national accounts, including dental, vision and supplemental health. His leadership was further recognized when he was selected for the presidency of the Anthem Specialty Division, which he considers one of his most significant professional milestones. After more than a decade with the company, he ultimately chose to pursue other professional interests.
Prior to his time at Anthem Inc., Mr. Sheils built a distinguished two-decade career at Delta Dental of Virginia in Richmond. He began as a southeastern field representative with Delta Dental of California in 1994 before transitioning to Delta Dental of Virginia as a senior account executive, a position he held from 1995 to 2013. He subsequently served as director of sales and account management from 2013 to 2014, overseeing operations throughout Virginia. His achievements were recognized with induction into the Hall of Fame for Overall Sales at Delta Dental.
In addition to his corporate accomplishments, Mr. Sheils is the founder of KBS Foundation, established in 2001. Through the foundation, he mentors young men and provides guidance on professional development and negotiations involving Name, Image and Likeness agreements. His commitment to youth development also extends to his eight years as an assistant track coach at Moody Middle School.
Mr. Sheils's professional affiliations include membership in The Greenbrier Sporting Club. He has also received the Top Sales Award at Anthem Inc. five times and was awarded a track scholarship to Virginia Commonwealth University.
His academic background includes a Mini Master of Business Administration in business, management, marketing and insurance from the University of Richmond in 2010 and a Bachelor of Science in finance and insurance from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1993. He further enhanced his credentials by completing the International Business Certificate Program at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business in 2010.
Throughout his career, Mr. Sheils has demonstrated an ability to rapidly organize, analyze and process information, a quality that has contributed significantly to his success across multiple disciplines.
