Since 2024, she has served as the Assistant Federal Security Director of Inspections for the TSA, continuing to demonstrate the leadership qualities that have become a hallmark of her professional journey while providing safe and efficient travel services.

From 2022 to 2024, Ms. Assili worked as the Deputy Federal Security Director at the Philadelphia International Airport for the TSA, further solidifying her reputation as an effective leader and innovator within the agency. Prior to this, she held the position of Director of Multimedia from 2019 to 2020, during which she contributed to operational advancements and clear, concise communication services.

Ms. Assili's lengthy tenure with the Department of Homeland Security began in 2001 and continues today. Though her career counts many milestones, she is especially proud to have been accepted into the White House Leadership Development Program, where she led personnel vetting reforms at the executive branch level as part of the President's Management Agenda and spearheaded a communication strategy impacting more than 4.2 million federal employees and contractors.

Reflecting on her storied journey, Ms. Assili takes particular pride in the leader she has become over the years, believing that her leadership positively impacts people and influences their daily lives. She has learned that effective leadership requires adapting to one's environment rather than expecting others to adjust to her style. Ms. Assili leads by the example that if you sincerely take care of the people, they will take care of the mission.

Hailing from an equally accomplished academic background, Ms. Assili earned a Master of Business Administration with a minor in Global Management from the University of Phoenix in 2004 and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Immaculata University in 1998. She believes in the continuous pursuit of leadership development and has received executive leadership certificates at Duke University and The Wharton School. Along with her education, she attributes much of her success across governmental sectors to tenacity and the guidance of excellent mentors throughout both her scholastic and professional pursuits.

The foundation for Ms. Assili's career was shaped by her family's legacy in aviation and business leadership. Inspired by her father, who served as a District Sales Manager for Sabena Airlines after emigrating from Lebanon to the United States in the mid-1960s, she aimed from an early age to emulate his example by becoming a senior executive herself.

After relocating to Florida in the late 1980s, Ms. Assili's sister — also an airline employee — helped connect her to opportunities within the industry. Following nearly 15 successful years with an airline employer, her career trajectory shifted when she was laid off in the aftermath of September 11, 2001. She subsequently joined the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) before transitioning to the TSA when her group moved under the Department of Homeland Security.

Ms. Assili's outstanding leadership and contributions to travel safety have seen her recognized with several prestigious honors over the years, including the TSA Assistant Administrator Award for Excellence and Stakeholder Engagement in 2014, DHS Certificate of Appreciation for exceptional guidance in 2016, TSA Pubic Affairs recognition and sincere appreciation for exceptional dedication and service in 2022 as well as TSA Philadelphia for appreciation in implementing improvements to better support the workforce, in 2024.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Ms. Assili leads a rich and fulfilling personal life as the mother of two daughters and two stepdaughters. Also happily married for more than a decade, she values her family deeply and enjoys cooking, creating new things, walking and spending time in nature.

Determined to further her impact in the coming years, Ms. Assili envisions reaching the top levels of government service and is also contemplating future possibilities beyond government work or considering retirement when appropriate.
