Mr. Eddy concluded a distinguished career as an advisory engineer at IBM, retiring in 2002 after 33 years with the company. His journey at IBM began in 1968, after completing his associate's degree, when he joined the organization as a technician. Quickly demonstrating technical acumen and adaptability, Mr. Eddy advanced through increasingly complex roles. Early in his tenure, he worked as a customer engineer in Chicago, responsible for maintaining and repairing a range of IBM machines, from basic models to sophisticated mainframes.

His professional path was briefly interrupted by military service in the United States Army from 1968 to 1971. During this period, Mr. Eddy spent significant time in school in El Paso, Texas, and later served in Germany. Upon returning to civilian life and rejoining IBM, he transitioned to the East Fishkill plant facility in New York. There, his focus shifted toward software engineering, where he developed specialized software for equipment used to test computer components.

Throughout his lengthy tenure at IBM, Mr. Eddy earned recognition for both technical expertise and leadership. He was promoted from technician to senior technician, then to department manager, overseeing approximately 15 production-line workers. Although his time as manager lasted about one year before moving into the engineering department as a staff engineer, he found fulfillment in evaluating employee performance and recommending salary increases. He is particularly proud of guiding contractors during critical periods when additional support was needed, earning respect as a knowledgeable and reliable resource among peers.

A highlight of Mr. Eddy's career was securing a United States patent in 2004 for the Interconnect Package Cluster Probe Short Removal Apparatus and Method, which addressed unique challenges in circuit board testing. This achievement stands out as his most notable professional milestone and is a testament to his expertise in software and applications. In addition to this accomplishment, he received an achievement award for outstanding individual performance from IBM in 1983 and was honored with a certificate for 25 years of service with the company.

After retiring from IBM, Mr. Eddy embarked on a second career managing a locally owned used bookstore for 14 years. In this role, he oversaw daily operations and staff scheduling, further demonstrating his commitment to leadership and community engagement.

Mr. Eddy's academic foundation was established at DeVry University in Chicago, Illinois, where he earned an associate's degree in applied science and electronic engineering in 1968. This education provided the technical grounding that supported his rapid advancement at IBM and underpinned his later achievements as an expert in software and applications.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Eddy has maintained active involvement with several organizations that reflect his interests and values. He is an active member of the American Contract Bridge League, highlighting his passion for bridge. Within his local church community, he serves as vice president of the board and as an elder. Over many years of membership, Mr. Eddy has taken on substantial responsibilities—particularly following the retirement of a long-serving pastor—overseeing operational aspects of the church such as administration, financial approvals and organizing weekly preaching schedules.

Born in Omaha, Mr. Eddy enjoys playing bridge during retirement. He is the father of one son and one daughter.
