LOVELAND, OH, August 28, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Mike Gilkey with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Gilkey celebrates many years' experience in his professional network and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Gilkey's professional journey spans five decades and is marked by significant milestones and leadership roles. Since 1978, he has been the owner of Gilkey Window Company, where he also held the position of president from 1978 to 2009. He founded the company after identifying a growing demand for energy-efficient home improvement solutions during the late 1970s oil embargo. Initially selling windows, roofing and siding, he soon focused exclusively on windows due to their market potential and ease of sale. By 1985, recognizing the rise of vinyl windows in the U.S., Mr. Gilkey transitioned from dealer to manufacturer, establishing his company as a leader in replacement window innovation.

After graduation, Mr. Gilkey worked for a heating and air conditioning company that quickly recognized his mechanical aptitude. Subsequent positions included working for his father's concrete business and selling life insurance to college friends before he established his own home improvement company in 1978.

Having attended college, Mr. Gilkey studied at Xavier University in Cincinnati, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration. His studies provided him with a strong background in business administration and management, which proved instrumental as he navigated various early career transitions.

Mr. Gilkey has demonstrated a commitment to community welfare through impactful philanthropy. He has served as a fundraiser for the crisis pregnancy centers' sonogram initiative in Cincinnati. For more than 30 years, he has also served as a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, the highest rank within the organization. His commitment to the Knights of Columbus reflects more than 40 years of dedicated service, during which he played a pivotal role in transformative fundraising initiatives. Notably, Mr. Gilkey launched a matching funds challenge for sonogram machines at crisis pregnancy centers in Cincinnati, matching $15,000 raised by the Knights to purchase vital equipment. This effort contributed to the closure of an abortion clinic nearby and helped establish sonograms as standard equipment in crisis pregnancy centers nationwide, an achievement he credits as transformative for the pro-life movement.

A major milestone in Mr. Gilkey's career was achieved in the 2000s with his patent in fiberglass window design. This innovation is recognized within the industry as one of the best replacement options available in the country and stands as a testament to his expertise in business management and accounting. Mr. Gilkey takes pride in this accomplishment yet remains humble about its impact on the industry.

Reflecting on industry trends that shaped his path, Mr. Gilkey notes that rising energy costs during the oil embargo created opportunities within home improvement, particularly window replacement, as homeowners sought better insulation solutions. He recognizes that entering a growing industry can be pivotal for success, drawing parallels between his experience and those who have thrived amid technological advancements.

Throughout his career, Mr. Gilkey has emphasized persistence and loyalty as keys to survival and success. He has credited long-serving employees at Goodyear for contributing to his journey and believes that focusing on areas of personal skill is essential for achievement. Notably, Mr. Gilkey's efforts have been recognized with several honors, including the Beautification Award from the City of Cincinnati, a Marketer of the Year Award and recognition among the Top 20 Home Improvement Companies in the Country.

Mr. Gilkey has ensured generational continuity by selling 90% of his company to two daughters and their husbands, keeping the business within the family and fostering generational wealth. Today, he finds fulfillment in seeing his team excel independently within his business while cherishing time spent with family across multiple generations. Mr. Gilkey's legacy encompasses innovation, philanthropy, leadership and an unwavering dedication to both professional excellence and personal values.
