Earlier in his career, Mr. Koo spent five years as a controller at Club American Technologies, starting in 1986, overseeing the finance and accounting departments. These formative roles provided him with foundational experience in finance and business operations before he transitioned fully into real estate.

Mr. Koo's academic background has played a critical role in shaping his career trajectory. He earned an Associate of Science in business administration and management from Belmont University in 1983 and a Bachelor of Science in corporate finance from San José State University in 1985. Mr. Koo's educational journey began with a high school diploma from Pui Ching Hong Kong in 1980. These academic achievements equipped him with the analytical skills necessary for success in both finance and real estate.

In addition to his degrees, Mr. Koo has pursued several industry certifications that underscore his expertise. He completed the Graduate of Realtor Institute program through the National Association of Realtors in 1997. He also became a certified residential specialist by the Council of Residential Specialists in 2004, earned the property management master designation from the California Association of Realtors in 2018 and became an accredited residential manager through the Institute of Real Estate Management in 2026. Mr. Koo's commitment to professional excellence is further reflected in his membership with the National Association of Realtors, the CRS Institute, the Institute of Real Estate Management, the California Association of Realtors as a property management master and the Real Estate Council as a certified residential specialist.

An active church member who attends services every Sunday, Mr. Koo serves as a ministry assistant by helping with visitations, planning outdoor outreach activities and coordinating fellowship events. He also participates in volunteer community outreach on weekends and mentors others by balancing professional guidance with social networking and entertainment.
