Mr. Mushkatel has distinguished himself as the managing partner of Mushkatel, Gobbato & Kile, PLLC, a role he has held since 2008. In this capacity, he provides strategic oversight and counsel to associates and partners on all complex adversarial matters. His responsibilities include managing all aspects of firm operations and making final decisions on key issues. Mr. Mushkatel regularly meets with attorneys and paralegals to address questions, receive updates, provide guidance and ensure priorities are aligned across the Scottsdale and Sun City offices. He is actively involved in client meetings and court hearings, maintaining a hands-on approach to leadership.
Since 2025, Mr. Mushkatel has expanded his professional reach by teaching at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. Earlier in his career, Mr. Mushkatel began as a public defender, focusing exclusively on criminal defense for four years after earning his law degree. This foundational experience was instrumental in shaping his development as a trial lawyer and continues to influence his approach to litigation and mentorship.
Throughout his career, Mr. Mushkatel has prioritized a team-oriented culture within his firm, deliberately fostering collaboration in an industry often characterized by individual competition. Drawing from his years playing baseball, he credits the sport with shaping his collaborative leadership style. He believes that the quality of one's work is fundamental to both professional and financial success. Under his guidance, Mushkatel, Gobbato & Kile, PLLC has continued to grow while maintaining its collaborative ethos.
Mr. Mushkatel's academic journey began at The University of Arizona, where he earned a bachelor's degree in 2001. He went on to obtain a Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2004. Initially planning a career in academia like his father, Mr. Mushkatel discovered his passion for trial advocacy during a college mock trial, which redirected his focus toward law. He attributes much of his success to the strong work ethic developed during childhood and believes resilience is more valuable than innate ability.
In addition to his professional commitments, Mr. Mushkatel is civically engaged as an instructor at The State Bar of Arizona's College of Trial Advocacy and at local law school programs, and he frequently speaks to students throughout the Valley. He is also involved as a volunteer and sponsor for Leading for Change, further demonstrating his dedication to community service and legal education.
Born in Denver, Mr. Mushkatel balances his professional career with his commitment to family and his personal interests. Outside of the office, he enjoys coaching his son's club baseball team, playing golf, reading, and traveling. He is married to a fellow attorney at the firm who focuses her practice on family law and also handles select criminal defense matters. The two met while working together at the public defender's office. They have two children, a son and a daughter.
Mr. Mushkatel finds fulfillment in mentoring associates and fellow attorneys. He aims to devote more time to their professional development while remaining involved primarily in complex medical malpractice and estate litigation matters where his expertise is most valuable.
