Mr. Nogradi is an American engineer, researcher, educator, and technology executive of Hungarian origin. A naturalized citizen of the United States, he has built a distinguished career spanning electronics, metrology, pulsed-power systems, aerospace engineering, and advanced defense technologies.
Born and educated in Hungary, Mr. Nogradi graduated from Kandó Kálmán Műszaki Főiskola (Kálmán Kandó Technical College) with a degree in Metrology, the science of measurement and instrumentation. Early in his career, he worked at Telefon Gyár (Telephone Factory), one of Hungary's historic telecommunications and electronics manufacturers.
After immigrating to the United States and becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen, Mr. Nogradi worked for several technology companies, where he designed and developed communications equipment, automated test systems for production-line testing, and electronic manufacturing applications. While employed at Sprague Electric Company in California and Massachusetts, he published his first technical paper, "Pulse Grading of Toroid Cores," which was presented at the Chicago Electronic Conference in 1971. At Lenkurt in San Carlos California he designed automated test equipment for production line testing of communications equipment. Later, he joined a defense electronic company at Eglin Air Force Base where he developed over fifty radar threat systems for the U.S military and some friendly foreign nations. Subsequently in 1989 he was invited to join the Georgia Tech Research Institute of Georgia Tech University as a Senior Research Engineer where he was involved in researching high power radar threat systems. While at GTRI he authored over thirty scientific reports and publications notably the "Hardfet Modulator," "Modified Hardfet Modulator" and "Array-Type Pulsed-Power Modulators," presented at the 28th Intersociety Energy Conversion Engineering Conference (IECEC) in 1993, and the "Envelope Technique for Trigger Amplifiers." His work contributed significantly to the advancement of solid-state pulsed-power and radar modulator technologies. In addition to his research activities, Mr. Nogradi served as a Visiting Lecturer at Emory University in Atlanta, sharing his expertise in language, engineering and applied sciences.
Following his tenure at GTRI, Mr. Nogradi joined Lockheed Martin, where he served as the lead engineer of the "F-22 Raptor Integration Laboratory." He served on the program for approximately sixteen years as a Senior Engineer contributing to the development of one of the world's most advanced fifth-generation fighter aircraft.
Presently, Mr. Nogradi is the Executive Senior Partner of the Akacia Group GP, a partnership with his wife in Dothan Alabama, where he continues to pursue initiatives in advanced technology, engineering, and strategic business development on U.S. government contracts.
Complementing his professional roles, Mr. Nogradi holds membership in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, underscoring his standing within the scientific community. His expertise has been shaped by a steadfast approach, which he attributes to being stubborn and adamant — qualities that have guided his progression from electrical engineering to leadership roles at major institutions.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Nogradi has demonstrated civic commitment as a reserve deputy sheriff with the Geneva County Sheriff's Office in Alabama since 2006. This involvement reflects his dedication to public service alongside his technical career.
Outside of engineering and civic service, Mr. Nogradi enjoys building Hungarian musical instruments and mountain dulcimers while researching traditional Hungarian musical culture. Looking ahead, he intends to deepen his exploration of traditional Hungarian musical culture through scientific study of Hungarian zither. He also plans to enhance the nature reserve at his farm in Black, Alabama, focusing on environmental stewardship and fostering appreciation for natural surroundings.
Additionally, Mr. Nogradi hopes to draw greater attention to the parallels between Hungarian and American musical traditions, advocating for continued scientific study of these cultural connections. Above all, he hopes to be remembered as a loving father and devoted family man.
