Inspired by her mother's work as a registered nurse, she pursued further education and entered Logan Regional Hospital in 1999 as a certified respiratory therapist while completing her studies at Weber State University.

At Logan Regional, part of Intermountain Health in Logan, Utah, Ms. Larsen advanced from respiratory therapist to unit-based educator over the course of a 17-year journey. Recognized as a research fellow toward the end of her tenure, she led initiatives such as the Neonatal Lung Recruitment Research Project — a protocol that changed approaches to neonatal resuscitation by reducing intubation rates and surfactant administration through innovative support methods for neonatal lung function. The protocol resulted in approximately $8 million in savings within nine months and was adopted nationally due to its success.

Hailing from an equally foundational academic background, Ms. Larsen graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in respiratory therapy from Weber State University in 2000 and later earned a Master of Business Administration in healthcare administration and management from Utah State University in 2023. To augment her medical qualifications, she is both certified and registered as a respiratory therapist.

Ms. Larsen's outstanding leadership, innovation and devotion to best practices have seen her recognized with several honors over the years.
