Ms. Keener's creative output includes several notable publications and projects. She first authored "Brave Walker" for Cricket Magazine in 1976. She later authored "Cartooning" in 1994, launched the comic strip "Hamster Alley" in 1999, developed puzzle features and "Mystery Mosaic" in 2001 and "Sudoku Happi" in 2008, and created "Toon Appétit" in 2017.

Ms. Keener's contributions have been recognized with numerous awards. She received the Unsung Hero Award from Junior League Akron in 1988, was honored as Woman of the Year by the Women's History Project in Akron in 1989, was named Visiting Artist of the Year by Heidelberg's Honors Program in 1998 and received the Tim Rosenthal Award from the National Cartoonists Society in 2006.
