Ms. Steinberg earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts, summa cum laude, from Temple University in Philadelphia in 1979. Among her major accomplishments, Ms. Steinberg served as one of five judges at America's Distinguished Young Women National Finals in Mobile, Alabama, in June 2026, where she evaluated high school senior girls from across the country on scholarship, leadership and talent. Her photography was highlighted on NASA's website through VisionIntoArt's Hubble Cantata project and included in publications such as "Midnight Moment" and Beth Morrison Projects' 20th anniversary book. As a collective member and photographer with Up Until Now Collective since 2020, Ms. Steinberg continues to photograph collaborative projects including the opera Fellow Travelers which deals with the Lavender Scare in the 1950s.
Ms. Steinberg's creative output encompasses publishing the photo book "Contemplations" in conjunction with PBS' AllArts channel's series on National Sawdust and releasing "Invisible Revealed," a coffee table book with photographs from a wide range of performances. Both are available through NationalSawdust's website with proceeds benefiting VisionIntoArt's Impact Lab.
Ms. Steinberg's contributions have been recognized through honors such as induction into Influential Women in 2026 and being an honoree at the Concert Artist Guild's 2026 75th Anniversary Gala coming upon September 14, 2026. She credits her perseverance for much of her success and acknowledges the influence of prominent figures within the arts community. Ms. Steinberg's professional trajectory was sparked by a moment of encouragement from her 7-year-old granddaughter, Margot, who urged her to "think of herself as a photographer". Soon after, her son, Bruce, commissioned her to photograph his lighting design portfolio—a project that led to her pivotal collaboration with acclaimed composer Paola Prestini, with whom she continues to work today. Ms. Steinberg subsequently launched her commercial career with her first paid assignment: photographing a Beyond the Machine concert at The Juilliard School.
