Kerry Yu currently serves as the owner and producer of China US Fashion Week, a role she has held since 2019. In this position, she identifies platforms and discovers designers to showcase their work through strategic channels. Her responsibilities include connecting designers, organizations and cultural groups to create collaborative opportunities, organizing high-profile fashion and cultural events in partnership with influential leaders and organizations, coordinating milestone celebrations for established cultural institutions and community organizations, building partnerships across diverse professional groups to support shared objectives, and promoting cross-cultural understanding through fashion as a universal form of creative expression. Kerry is dedicated to creating inclusive social environments that bring people from diverse backgrounds together, using fashion as a platform to strengthen cultural connections and foster a more cohesive society.
Prior to launching China US Fashion Week, Kerry founded Oceana Blue Productions in 2015. Through this fashion and event production company, she has specialized in theme and concept design, staffing and production management. During her tenure at Oceana Blue Productions, Kerry served as the exclusive producer for Miss Universe Canada in 2023 and has recently become involved with Miss USA as a member of advisor board. Her experience in managing large-scale productions has further solidified her reputation as a leader in the industry. in August 2026, Kerry successfully helped create and organize the prestigious Yacht Gala Celebrating the 75th Diamond Anniversary of Miss USA, this milestone event brought together 37 former Miss USA titleholders and 102 current Miss USA contestants and distinguished guests of 600 guests and supporters to honor 75 years of Miss USA history and legacy.
In 2012, Ms. Yu established O'Pearl Jewelry, marking her first venture into jewelry design. Upon arriving in the United States, she faced the challenge of establishing herself in a new environment while caring for her two young children. Recognizing the need for a local focus rather than extensive travel, she created a jewelry company where she honed the design skills she had developed in China and collaborated with local designers in the United States. Her brand's slogan, "Be beautiful, Be bold." it reflects her commitment to empowering women through distinctive pieces that inspire confidence.
Since 2011, Kerry has also served as a director of the International Modeling and Talent Association (IMTA), the largest modeling event in the United States. In this capacity, she continues to shape the industry for aspiring models and designers by providing them with opportunities to develop their talents and gain exposure on an international stage. Kerry has been one of the directors of IMTA and directing fashion shows and bring talented designers to the convention both in LA and New York once a year and present special award at IMTA since 2011 till now for 15 years.
Earlier in her career, from 1997 to 1999, Kerry was the general manager at Access Model Management China. This role marked a significant milestone as she transitioned from modeling to producing and directing shows, laying the foundation for her future endeavors in both business ownership and creative leadership.
Kerry's academic background includes a bachelor's degree in program management from Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology in Ottawa, Canada. She also holds a bachelor's degree in English in China. Her educational experiences have played a vital role in shaping her approach to leadership within the fashion industry and nonprofit sector. While studying abroad in Canada, Kerry signed with a modeling agency and participated in a national competition in 1992, earning three major awards in Commerical, Runway and Talent ( Singing) and top ten finalists for "Cover Girls", that boosted her confidence and inspired her to pursue greater ambitions.
Her journey began as part of the first generation of models in China, before she moved abroad to pursue higher education and personal growth. After graduating from college in Canada, Kerry relocated to Europe to further develop her modeling career near Barcelona, where she began teaching modeling classes and directing shows despite language barriers. These formative experiences led her back to China, where she founded her own company "Access 2000" focused on producing and directing events, before eventually moving to the United States. Throughout her career, Kerry has supported numerous designers from both China and the United States.
A defining achievement for Kerry is the founding of the Chinese Youth & Women Development Organization in 2023. This nonprofit is dedicated to promoting Chinese culture and fostering environmentally sustainable lifestyles among younger generations. The organization's signature initiative is the Chinese Rose Princess and Queen program, which welcomes participants starting the age 8 and up as princesses, while married individuals may participate as queens without age restrictions. Unlike traditional pageants that select a single winner, this program recognizes all participants as winners who serve as representatives of Chinese culture and green living within their communities.
The organization provides training platforms for young individuals struggling with identity issues or cultural shame by hosting programs focused on leadership skills, confidence-building, and public speaking — including collaborations with Harvard University and participation in United Nations events and New York Fashion Week. Many former participants have gone on to attend prestigious institutions such as Stanford University, Princeton Univeristy, Univeristy of Pennsylvania, New York University and more; however, Kerry emphasizes that their development in leadership and community involvement is equally significant as academic achievement.
Kerry's civic engagement extends beyond her nonprofit work. She joined the advisory board of Miss USA in 2026 and actively supports organizations such as the China Institute, Go Red for Women and Boys & Girls Aid that founded in 1885 in Oregon USA.
Her creative contributions include co-authoring Volumes 2 and 3 of "Powerful Female Immigrants Who Inspire Greatness," which highlight stories of resilience among immigrant women leaders. In addition, she authored "Tiger Learn English (MTV English Songs for Chinese Children)," published by China Educational Publishing House in 2005.
Recognition for Kerry's impact includes receiving the Creative Award at the Silicon Valley AI Film Festival for "Whisper Behind the Gate" in 2026; being honored with the "Outstanding Global Mother Award" in 2025 in Canada; and receiving an award from Congresswoman Judy Chu of California in 2024.
Outside of her professional commitments, Kerry is devoted to her two adult children; daughter Maria who is an academic advisor and adjunct professor at University in CA, and son Tiger who is a professional American Football player. Kerry enjoys photography and playing pickleball in her free time. She remains determined not to slow down or consider retirement, but instead continues to invest her energy in making a difference through meaningful pursuits that inspire those around her.
