Mr. Anderson currently serves as the founder and chief executive officer of ABR Consulting, Achieve Better Results, a consulting and training firm established in 2026. Through this venture, he has dedicated himself to helping organizations strengthen leadership, community engagement and cultural competency. Since founding the company, Mr. Anderson has developed comprehensive training materials, built the company's website and crafted its marketing strategy.

Leveraging longstanding media relationships, Mr. Anderson has promoted ABR Consulting through local radio appearances. He is currently preparing to teach a course on community engagement and cultural competency at the Executive Leadership College, a partnership between Metro State University and the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association. As a credentialed instructor through the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, Mr. Anderson has also served as an adjunct professor at Minnesota State University, sharing practical lessons from his extensive career with aspiring law enforcement professionals.

Before launching ABR Consulting, Mr. Anderson retired as the chief of police for the City of St. Cloud, Minnesota, a position he held for 10 years. During his tenure, he led the department through numerous crises and significant challenges, including the period following George Floyd's murder and subsequent civil unrest in nearby Minneapolis. He is particularly proud of his work in developing a strong leadership team. Notably, under his mentorship, three individuals advanced to become chiefs or sheriffs themselves. Mr. Anderson also established a youth leadership academy that engaged thousands of children and spearheaded the creation of a community outpost in collaboration with local businesses, accomplished without imposing financial burdens on taxpayers. He also overhauled outdated hiring practices by implementing apprenticeship and internship programs that enabled many to rise to supervisory roles, transforming recruitment within the department.

Before his service in St. Cloud, Mr. Anderson was appointed as the chief deputy in Carver County, Minnesota, serving as second-in-command for 18 months. In this role, he became the first black employee in county history and contributed to advancing diversity within the organization.

Mr. Anderson's law enforcement journey began in Dakota County, Minnesota, where he started as a paid intern with the sheriff's office in 1995. Over more than 15 years in Dakota County, he progressed from deputy to commander, becoming the first person of color in county history to achieve an administrative rank. As jail commander, Mr. Anderson led nationally recognized programming focused on rehabilitation rather than warehousing incarcerated individuals, drawing upon his own experiences growing up in Detroit to inform a more constructive approach to corrections.

Earlier in his professional life, Mr. Anderson worked as a news reporter for McGraw Hill Publishing following his initial pursuit of journalism after college in 1984. In addition to his civilian roles, he served in the U.S. Army, where he broadened his perspective on leadership and organizational management.

Mr. Anderson's academic achievements culminated in a Master of Arts in public safety administration from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota in 2010. Aside from his education, he is an active member of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives. He previously held memberships with the International Association of Chiefs of Police, served on the foundation board for the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association, and participated with the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association. Beyond professional engagement, Mr. Anderson has served civically on the board for the Chiefs of Police Foundation and has volunteered with organizations such as Pathways for Youth and the St. Cloud Youth Leadership Academy.

Recognized for his efforts, Mr. Anderson was named the Chief of Police of the Year at the Law Enforcement and Social Services Conference hosted by St. Cloud State University in 2019. He also received awards from the National Association of Counties, was honored with an Anthony Sutton Civic Engagement Award from the U.S. Department of Justice, received a Community Hero Award from Light the Legacy, several Leadership Awards from both the Jugaad Leadership Program and Higher Works Collaborative, and garnered recognition from the Department of Corrections.

Mr. Anderson credits much of his success to the values instilled by his parents during his upbringing in Detroit. His mother's steadfastness and vibrant personality served as enduring sources of encouragement and resilience. Influences from coaches and mentors at the Boys Club further reinforced principles of discipline and accountability that continue to guide him today. These formative experiences have shaped not only Mr. Anderson's leadership philosophy but also his commitment to fostering environments where individuals are valued based on their abilities.
