In addition to his work at Seashores Global, Mr. Orjiako has been a valued member of Roche Bros. Supermarkets in Massachusetts since 2015, where he remains actively engaged with the local community. Embracing this role to provide financial support for his family, he finds great fulfillment in his daily interactions with customers of all ages and is especially popular among children and community members who frequent the store.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Orjiako founded the Foundation for Indigent Students of Africa (FISA) in Nairobi, Kenya, establishing and funding this organization using his retirement savings from his tenure with the African Union. The foundation engages in exemplary service, enabling disadvantaged students to pursue higher education and professional success. One graduate became a prominent administrative and public relations manager for a major East African airline, an outcome that brings Mr. Orjiako particular joy. He hopes to expand the foundation's reach to a global scale in the future.
Prior to these endeavors, Mr. Orjiako held several key positions within the Organization of African Unity (now the African Union). As an associate information officer in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, he contributed to international communications efforts on behalf of the continent. He also worked with the organization in Nairobi, furthering diplomatic information services across Africa.
Long committed to helping those in the greatest need through everything he does, Mr. Orjiako's earlier roles included serving as information attaché to the head of the Nigerian Information Center in Ethiopia and as the principal information officer for Nigeria's Ministry of Information. Through both of these positions, he developed much of the expertise in managing public relations and communication strategies for governmental bodies that continues to serve him well today.
Hailing from an equally accomplished academic journey, Mr. Orjiako earned a master's degree in communication studies from the University of Nairobi as well as a bachelor's degree in mass communication from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Along with his education, the values instilled in Mr. Orjiako by his parents have played a significant role in shaping his character and professional path. Despite having limited formal education themselves, they emphasized modesty and service to others — principles that have guided him throughout his life. His mother mentored young women in her community, while his father successfully raised seven sons who all went on to achieve distinction in their respective fields.
Mr. Orjiako's decision to enter public service was profoundly influenced by witnessing the Nigerian civil war from 1967 to 1970 as a teenager; this experience deepened his empathy for human suffering and inspired him to become a voice for those without one. After briefly venturing into teaching following secondary school, he pursued higher education with an initial focus on linguistics before discovering his passion for mass communication.
Civic engagement has long been another hallmark of Mr. Orjiako's life. He is recognized as a fourth degree knight with the Knights of Columbus at St. Stephen's Parish in Framingham, Massachusetts, as well as a third degree knight with the Knights of St. Mulumba in Nigeria.
Throughout his career, Mr. Orjiako has received numerous accolades recognizing his global leadership and advocacy efforts. He was honored with the Golden Jubilee Award for Outstanding Contributions in Media and Education by Nigeria's Golden Globe Foundation and received recognition for exemplary advocacy from California State University, as well as from Northeastern University where he delivered a keynote address on March 24, 2005, thus distinguishing himself as a prominent spokesperson and communication official for the African continent.
Among other distinctions, Mr. Orjiako was invited by former President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter to participate in initiatives organized by The Carter Foundation — an honor he regards as a testament to his dedication to humanitarian service. Additionally, he received an apostolic blessing from His Holiness Pope Leo XIV on his and his wife Virginia's 40th wedding anniversary.
Outside of his professional commitments, Mr. Orjiako enjoys staying active through his work at Roche Bros., interacting with people from all walks of life and supporting grassroots communities. He leads a rich and fulfilling family life alongside Virginia, with whom he has five children. Their eldest daughter is accomplished in international affairs, fluent in five languages and has served with several United Nations agencies including WHO, UNESCO and World Food Program. Their youngest son is pursuing a career in architecture, and their eldest son joined them in the United States in January 2025.
