In 2025, he was vice president of information technology after serving as senior director of information technology from 2020 to 2025 in the Greater Chicago area. During his tenure with the White Sox, Dr. Campbell played a pivotal role in shaping the organization's technological landscape, drawing on his extensive background in both public and private sectors.

From 2022 to 2024, Dr. Campbell was adjunct faculty in business innovation at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. This academic appointment allowed him to share his industry knowledge with students while continuing to advance innovation within the classroom setting. Between 2019 and 2020, he served as chief information technology officer for the Ho-Chunk Nation in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. In this consulting role, he brought tribal experience and leadership to a critical period of organizational growth and transformation.

From 2014 to 2018, he was chief information officer for the Atlanta Housing Authority. One of his most significant professional achievements occurred during this period when he led the successful integration of an enterprise resource planning system that had previously stalled for three years.

By evaluating organizational structure, meeting with stakeholders and teams throughout the authority and retraining his team in Agile methodology, Dr. Campbell overcame barriers that included project management bottlenecks and staff resistance to change. Within approximately 18 months, he completed the project as promised to the chief executive officer, enabling about 20,000 families to be housed in Atlanta.

Dr. Campbell's earlier roles include chief information officer for Pittsburgh Public Schools from 2010 to 2014 and chief information officer for the Boston Public Health Commission between 2008 and 2010. His professional journey began after high school when he joined the Army before transitioning into information technology roles within city and local government, public health and education entities as chief technology officer. Internationally, Dr. Campbell has lived and worked in Lagos, Nigeria and Bosnia, experiences that have shaped his global perspective on leadership and innovation.

A member of HoustonCIO and former member of ChicagoCIO, Dr. Campbell values active participation in industry organizations as essential for staying at the forefront of technological advancement.

Dr. Campbell's educational background is both extensive and distinguished. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy in cybersecurity leadership from Capitol Technology University and a Doctor of Science in information security and information systems from Robert Morris University. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from Colorado Technical University as well as a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Colorado Technical University.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Campbell has earned advanced certifications, including completion of the CIO Pocket MBA program at Boston University and Strategic Negotiations: Dealmaking for the Long Term at Harvard Business School.

Mentorship has played a central role throughout Dr. Campbell's career trajectory. He credits ongoing guidance from mentors — both through Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., where he has been an active member since 1990, and through his broader professional network — with helping him identify blind spots and make informed decisions at critical junctures. This commitment to mentorship is reflected not only in his own development but also in his efforts guiding three junior executives into chief information officer roles.

Dr. Campbell's civic engagement is longstanding and multifaceted. For more than three decades, he has been deeply involved with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., serving as vice president of its Sigma Omega chapter, the oldest chapter in Chicago, and leading numerous community initiatives such as talent hunts, arts programs for children and educational outreach efforts. He has also contributed as a board member for Strengthening Our Community Alliance and Neighborhood Heroes.
