Since then, she has authored a remarkable 20 books covering a wide range of topics and genres, including three cozy mystery novels, a seven-volume historical fiction series inspired by Holocaust-era stories of survival, and a trilogy of New Mexico-based murder mysteries.

Alongside her own written works, Ms. Sloan Butts has served as a freelance editor and contractor since 2013. Her creative career is characterized by a deep commitment to supporting her fellow authors and contributing to various projects across genres with diligence, timeliness and flexibility.

Before dedicating herself fully to her writing endeavors, Ms. Sloan Butts built a diverse professional background in financial services and education. From 2015 to 2018, she served as a registered representative and independent insurance professional, guiding individuals through important financial decisions and specializing in long-term care insurance. She previously held a similar title at MassMutual Financial Group from 2014 to 2015 and worked as a self-employed financial adviser in Greenwood Village, Colorado, in 2014.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Sloan Butts was an admissions coordinator at DaVita Kidney Care from 2012 to 2013 and a customer account manager at CenturyLink from 2011 to 2012, both roles that allowed her to connect with clients and families and assist them with key services. She also spent five years as a consultant for the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America and College Retirement Equities Fund. Before that, she was a registered representative with John Hancock from 2003 to 2005, consulting with clients on long-term care insurance and investments.

Ms. Sloan Butts' diverse journey also includes experience as an account manager at Aetna Inc. from 1998 to 1999 and as an independent consultant for various organizations from 1993 to 1998, during which she was responsible for records management and healthcare consulting services. Her early professional years from 1976 to 1992 were spent at TAB Products Company, where she advanced through multiple leadership roles including branch manager, assistant manager and national account manager while developing product marketing programs and administrative processes.

A pivotal chapter in Ms. Sloan Butts' career began in education when she became a substitute teacher in Denver, Colorado, in 2005. Teaching quickly became her greatest passion, giving her daily opportunities to make a difference in students' lives regardless of their backgrounds or circumstances. Ms. Sloan Butts' transition from editor to published author was sparked by encouragement from her husband and by witnessing the power of personal storytelling during an encounter with a World War II veteran whose biography she helped write just before his passing. This experience ignited her interest in Holocaust studies and World War II history, leading her to publish seven insightful books on these subjects so far.

Alongside her writing career, Ms. Sloan Butts has contributed to civic-minded initiatives through volunteerism and creative pursuits, supporting senior programs and workshops as well as food banks in her community. As a high school financial literacy teacher, she has shared essential knowledge with young people to help prepare them for the challenges of adulthood.

Also known for creative pursuits beyond her writing, Ms. Sloan Butts sings with the Albuquerque Civic Chorus and enjoys playing the guitar, integrating music to fuel both her personal fulfillment and community engagement.
