SAN DIEGO, CA, September 25, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David J. Noonan, Esq., has been recognized for achievement in the field of law.

Mr. Noonan's distinguished legal career spans more than five decades, marked by a sustained record of success as a trial lawyer in major business litigation. Since 1976, he has served as partner and attorney at NoonanLance, a San Diego-based law firm that he co-founded with three colleagues.

Under Mr. Noonan's leadership, the firm has evolved through various names and partnerships, reflecting his adaptability and vision within the legal field. His expertise encompasses business litigation, trial advocacy, antitrust law, securities litigation and patent litigation. He is recognized for representing Fortune 500 companies and other significant clients while also dedicating considerable time to leadership roles within the legal profession and the community.

In addition to his work at NoonanLance, Mr. Noonan has contributed to the judiciary as chairperson of the Judicial Advisory Committee for the Southern District of California, serving under Senator Dianne Feinstein from 2008 to 2023. His commitment to advancing the legal profession is further demonstrated by his service as president of the San Diego County Bar Association in 1993 and president of the San Diego County Bar Foundation from 1994 to 1995.

Mr. Noonan also served on the board of directors for both organizations during the early 1990s. His leadership extended to the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program, where he was a board member beginning in 1998 and later president from 2005 to 2008.

Throughout his career, Mr. Noonan has been actively involved with numerous professional organizations. He is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association, the American Business Trial Lawyers Association, the Antitrust Law Section and Litigation Section of the American Bar Association, and the American Judicature Society.

Mr. Noonan's longstanding association with the American Board of Trial Advocates includes serving as an associate since 1992, board member and officer for the San Diego chapter since 2001 and president in 2006. He has also held leadership roles with the Louis M. Welsh Inn of Court, including master since 1993 and executive committee member from 1998 to 2009.

Additionally, Mr. Noonan's influence extends into federal court committees, having served on the discipline committee, equal justice committee and merit selection committee for United States magistrates for the United States District Court for the Southern District of California throughout the 1990s. He served as a lawyer delegate to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference several times during that decade and co-chaired the Southern District lawyers delegation in 1996.

Mr. Noonan's academic journey began at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969. During his time at Colby College, he was captain of the football team and co-captain of the lacrosse team, experiences that helped shape his leadership skills and commitment to teamwork. Mr. Noonan continued his education at Syracuse University College of Law in Syracuse, New York, graduating cum laude with a Juris Doctor in 1973, where he was Survey Editor for the Syracuse Law Review and named to both Phi Kappa Phi and Order of the Coif.

After completing his law degree, Mr. Noonan relocated to California with plans for a brief stay but soon decided to make it his permanent home after joining a prestigious law firm in San Diego as an associate attorney. His ambition led him to co-found his own firm just three years later, which has since become a fixture in San Diego's legal community.

Mr. Noonan is admitted to practice before the State Bar of California, along with the United States District Courts for the Southern, Central and Northern Districts of California. His admissions extend to the appellate level as well, including both the Ninth and Fifth Circuit Courts of Appeals, and he is further admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States.

Reflecting on his career, Mr. Noonan attributes his professional accomplishments to hard work, thorough preparation and mentorship from highly respected trial lawyers early in his career whose standards he studied closely. Maintaining a sense of humor and even temperament has also been essential to navigating a demanding profession.

Recognition for Mr. Noonan's contributions includes numerous awards, chief among them a sustained presence in Best Lawyers in America across four distinct practice areas. His business litigation recognition dates back to 1997 and has continued annually through 2025, the longest-running of his honors, while his bet-the-company litigation recognition has spanned 2007 to 2025. More recently, he has also been recognized in legal malpractice — defendant from 2015 to 2025 and in antitrust law from 2020 to 2025.

These honors have been punctuated by repeated Lawyer of the Year distinctions: Mr. Noonan was named Best Lawyers in America San Diego Lawyer of the Year for bet-the-company litigation in 2009, 2011 and 2019, and for legal malpractice — defendant in 2017, in addition to being named Southern California Lawyer of the Year for bet-the-company litigation in 2011. Complementing these accolades, Mr. Noonan was listed among Southern California Super Lawyers — San Diego Edition from 2007 through 2025, consistently ranked among the top lawyers in San Diego through each year until 2024.

Mr. Noonan's distinctions also include receiving the Daniel T. Broderick Award from San Diego chapters of ABOTA, ABTL Consumer Attorneys and Defense Lawyers for professionalism and integrity in trial practice in 2005. Additionally, he is recognized as a fellow by both ACTL since 1998 and the American Bar Foundation.

Beyond his professional accolades, Mr. Noonan's contributions extend into education through speaking engagements at seminars, lectures and demonstrations from 1993 to 2011.

Outside his professional life, Mr. Noonan enjoys running, skiing and reading. He is a proud father to four children and grandfather to five grandchildren. Looking ahead, he intends to continue practicing law until current cases are concluded before shifting focus toward civic and philanthropic work. He hopes to increase outreach efforts related to Parkinson's disease — inspired by close friends affected by this condition — as well as financially supporting organizations such as the CJD Foundation.
