Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Arantes has established a distinguished career in animal health and has served as the ruminant global marketing head and associate vice president of the ruminant business unit at Merck Animal Health since 2025. In this capacity, he serves as the primary intermediary among clients, customers, farmers, and the research and development team, ensuring that the company's technological advancements align with the field's evolving needs. In addition to these responsibilities, Mr. Arantes leads a team of 15 direct reports and oversees additional members within the ruminant division, guiding strategy across more than 140 countries. His efforts are directed toward maximizing productivity for farmers, supporting sustainable practices and ensuring consistent operational excellence in both large-scale dairy operations and smaller pasture-based productions.
From 2023 to 2024, Mr. Arantes served as livestock global marketing head at Merck Animal Health, where he was instrumental in shaping global strategies for all animal production species. Previously, he served as the ruminant business unit director at MSD Animal Health in Brazil from 2013 to 2017, where he managed teams focused on delivering innovative solutions for livestock health. Notably, this enabled his team to regain their leading position and implement a stronger distributor and vet-clinic sell-out program. The previous year, Mr. Arantes was a business manager of performance technologies for Zilmax.
Mr. Arantes' earlier roles include product manager positions at MSD Animal Health in Brazil from 2006 to 2011. He is recognized for his ability to thrive in local, regional and global contexts while leading high-performing teams across multiple continents. He is widely regarded as an expert in ruminants, livestock, production animals, cattle, poultry, aqua species and swine.

His academic pursuits have been complemented by a 2016 Merck Emerging Leader certification in entrepreneur leadership from Harvard Business School. His thesis on parasite control and toxoplasmosis has contributed valuable insights into how parasites such as ticks and worms, as well as toxoplasmosis, can affect neonatal animals, a subject that continues to inform his work today. Reflecting on his career, Mr. Arantes attributes much of his success to an eagerness to learn and a strong curiosity about understanding differences. These qualities have enabled him to guide organizations toward ambitious goals such as doubling business size by 2032 – a challenge he embraces with determination.
Civic engagement is an important aspect of Mr. Arantes' life. He supports the Ridge Runner Parents Association and has contributed time teaching karate classes in Brazil and Mexico, reflecting his commitment to community involvement. Notably, his professional excellence has been recognized through several awards, including Best Piece for Ruminants at Merck Animal Health in 2025, the Share to Win Award for best marketing strategy from Merck Animal Health in 2013, and multiple Star Awards.
Mr. Arantes' journey illustrates that even in today's rapidly changing world, it is still possible to build a meaningful, long-term career within an organization while growing across different roles, regions and cultures. Raised on a farm in Brazil, he believes his path – from humble beginnings to a global leadership role – demonstrates how curiosity, continuous learning and hard work can open extraordinary opportunities.
Outside his professional life, Mr. Arantes enjoys practicing karate, playing paddle sports, cooking, grilling and playing guitar with his son.
