In 2025, Ms. Shakur published The HR Greenbook: A Modern Roadmap for Workplaces That Win.

CHICAGO, IL, October 01, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Laurie Shakur has been recognized for achievement in human resources.

Ms. Shakur has spent more than three decades helping organizations develop leaders, shape healthier workplace cultures, and manage change. In 2024, she founded LSC Strategies, LLC, where she serves as founder and chief people officer. She helps growing companies prepare managers to lead, introduce AI responsibly, improve performance, and build people practices that evolve with the business.

Her work explores how artificial intelligence can support human resources while keeping people at the center of workplace decisions. She is particularly concerned about the effects of artificial intelligence on women in clerical and administrative roles and advocates for giving employees the skills and support to remain successful as work changes. Compassion, optimism, resilience and engagement guide her leadership.

In 2025, Ms. Shakur published The HR Greenbook: A Modern Roadmap for Workplaces That Win. Through personal stories, practical guidance, and reflection questions, the book examines eight stages of the employee life cycle and offers a blueprint for healthier workplaces. She has since collaborated on an accompanying course and developed an AI agent that helps managers prepare for challenging workplace conversations.

In 2026, Ms. Shakur was selected to become a Vistage Chair, recognizing her experience advising executives and helping leaders make stronger decisions. Before founding LSC Strategies, she served as Chief People Officer at Session AI from 2022 to 2026. The appointment fulfilled a long-held goal and reinforced her belief that meaningful milestones have no expiration date. At Session AI, she brought experience from established global companies into a female-led tech startup experiencing rapid growth and change.

Her earlier leadership roles included Rakuten, Gracenote, later acquired by Nielsen, and MUFG Union Bank. She also spent a decade at Pacific Gas and Electric Company working across human resources, leadership development, change management, and business operations. Ms. Shakur began her career at CNA Insurance, one of the nation's largest commercial property and casualty insurers, where she earned multiple industry certifications and developed a strong foundation in business and operations.

Ms. Shakur earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Loyola University Chicago. She completed the Human Resources Executive Program at Stanford University and earned a master's certificate in Organizational Leadership from DePaul University. Her learning bridges executive leadership and whole-person well-being, with studies at The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and Columbia College, executive coaching certifications from The Center for Creative Leadership and Fielding Graduate University, and Reiki, Emotional Freedom Technique, Yoga, and Transcendental Meditation training. She has held the SHRM-SCP credential since 2013.

Faith has grounded Ms. Shakur throughout her life and career. It has shaped how she leads, advocates and creates opportunities for others. After decades of advocating for women in corporate America, she is continuing that work by supporting women business owners. Her service also includes helping young people with foster care experience prepare for employment through SOAR for Youth, serving on the boards of the Museum of Children's Art and Friends of the Commission on the Status of Women, and serving through Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

Ms. Shakur hosted "Putting the Human Back in Human Resources," a segment of the Future of Work Podcast produced by PeopleForward Network. She received an Influencer Award in People Forward Leadership from the network and has contributed as a Forbes Business Councils thought leader.

A Chicago native, Ms. Shakur enjoys spending time with loved ones, travel, yoga, reading, and time outdoors. She is the mother of two daughters and the grandmother of a young granddaughter.
