WESTON, MA, October 01, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mary Ann Pesce has been recognized for her extraordinary career in marketing, innovation and general management, a career that has established her as one of the nation's most accomplished female consumer products executives.

For more than three decades, Ms. Pesce built a reputation as a visionary business leader with a rare ability to identify opportunities, challenge conventional thinking and turn innovative ideas into some of the world's most successful consumer brands. Her career included senior leadership roles at Gillette and Procter & Gamble, where she helped shape products and businesses that transformed major consumer categories and generated billions of dollars in sales.

Among the defining achievements of Ms. Pesce's career was her leadership in the development and launch of two landmark products: Gillette's Mach3 and the Venus razor system. Both became household names and enduring global brands, while demonstrating the combination of consumer insight, innovation, persistence and business judgment that characterized her career.

Ms. Pesce joined Gillette in 1981 and spent more than two decades with the company, ultimately serving as President, Global Personal Care. During that time, she became an influential advocate for innovation inside one of America's most iconic consumer products companies.

Her work on Mach3 was particularly notable. When the project encountered resistance, Ms. Pesce remained convinced of its potential and continued to champion it within the organization. The product went on to become one of Gillette's most important innovations, generating more than $1 billion in sales within its first 18 months.

She brought the same conviction to the creation of Venus, recognizing that the women's shaving category deserved a brand and product system designed specifically around the needs of women rather than an adaptation of products originally developed for men. Her commitment to the initiative was so strong that she declined a promotion in order to remain with the work and see it through to completion. Venus ultimately became another major global brand and helped redefine the category.

Ms. Pesce later served as president of new business development at Gillette. With her appointment, she became the first woman in The Gillette Company's then 103-year history to achieve the level of Global Business Unit President. Following Procter & Gamble's acquisition of the company, she served as president of global personal care at P&G. In that role, she oversaw a significant portfolio of personal care businesses, including shampoos, conditioners, deodorants and body washes.

The transition from Gillette to P&G also provided another testament to the reputation, Ms. Pesce had established as a leader. During the integration, she distinguished herself in the executive review process led by P&G Chairman and Chief Executive Officer A.G. Lafley, who recognized the experience, strategic perspective and leadership capabilities she brought to the combined organization.

Her success was built on an exceptional academic foundation. Ms. Pesce graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts in biology in 1977 and earned her Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1981.

Her impact, however, extends well beyond the corporate world.

Ms. Pesce has devoted considerable time and expertise to banking, education, health care, community organizations and philanthropy. Since 2010, she has served as a director of Cambridge Savings Bank. She served on the Cannabis Advisory Board of the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission from 2017 to 2021 and has contributed her leadership to Harvard Medical School, the Campaign for Catholic Schools and Harvard University alumni interviewing.

Sports and community service have also played important roles in her life. From 2006 to 2017, Ms. Pesce served on the board of The Skating Club of Boston and led development efforts associated with plans for a new skating facility, an endeavor with particular meaning because of her son's accomplishments as a nationally ranked figure skater. She also chaired development for the New England Women's Leadership Awards and has contributed her time to her children's schools and numerous community initiatives.

Following her corporate career, Ms. Pesce continued to bring her experience to emerging businesses and entrepreneurs. Her consulting work has included advising Harry's as the shaving company evolved from a startup into an established consumer brand, as well as supporting an entrepreneurial venture focused on clean water solutions.

Her accomplishments have earned significant recognition. In 2001, Advertising Age named Ms. Pesce among its 100 Best Marketers of the Year, and in 2004 she received the New England Women's Leadership Award.

For all of her professional accomplishments, Ms. Pesce traces much of her approach to leadership to lessons learned much earlier in life. Raised as the youngest of three children in a blue-collar Italian American family, she learned the importance of hard work, resilience, adaptability and personal responsibility. She particularly credits her father with teaching her the value of understanding people, communicating clearly and negotiating effectively.

Those lessons became hallmarks of a leadership style that combined strategic vision with persistence, an ability to build support for new ideas and a willingness to challenge established thinking when she believed there was a better path forward.

Throughout her career, Ms. Pesce has also been a strong advocate for creating opportunities for women and for ensuring that different perspectives are represented in organizations and leadership. As the first woman in Gillette's history to rise to the level of Global Business Unit President, her own career helped demonstrate what was possible for women seeking senior leadership positions at a time when relatively few women occupied the highest levels of corporate America.

Today, Ms. Pesce remains actively engaged in business, civic and philanthropic endeavors and continues to bring the same curiosity, energy and commitment that have defined her career.

Her legacy can be measured in many ways: in globally recognized brands, in businesses she helped build, in organizations she helped strengthen and in the people she has advised and mentored. But perhaps most importantly, it can be seen in a career spent repeatedly turning ideas into action and demonstrating that exceptional leadership requires not only the ability to recognize an opportunity, but also the conviction to pursue it.
