DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD, October 05, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who recognizes Karen Egypt for her contributions to institutional research, data analytics, real estate and community arts. A former supervisor, reflecting on more than 25 years of her own experience in public and higher education, described Ms. Egypt as the most multifaceted and skilled person she had known. Ms. Egypt has brought that breadth of expertise to higher education leadership, entrepreneurship, real estate, and arts education.
Since 2023, Ms. Egypt has served as assistant director of assessment in Enrollment Management at the University of Maryland, College Park. She leads and supports work that helps university partners understand admissions and financial aid data, meet reporting needs and strengthen the processes behind reliable analysis. Her approach pairs technical rigor with a concern for the people doing the work: developing analysts, clarifying priorities and helping leaders use evidence to make informed decisions.
Egypt previously served as director of institutional research at Cecil College, assistant director of data analytics at Anne Arundel Community College and assistant director of institutional research at Georgetown University. Her career also includes research, planning and information technology roles at Prince George's Community College and other institutions, including her alma mater, The Catholic University of America. Her work has encompassed institutional reporting, assessment, analytics, data governance and strategic planning.
Her professional service extends beyond her campus roles. She served on the Board of Directors of the Association for Institutional Research from 2022 to 2025 and on the Steering Committee of the North East Association for Institutional Research from 2021 to 2024. She has also supported colleagues through mentoring, presentations and professional service. As a Middle States Commission on Higher Education peer evaluator, she has contributed to reviews of institutional effectiveness and academic assessment.
Ms. Egypt is the founder of EMK Investment Group LLC and operates EMK Solutions Group as its consulting business. Through that work, she brings together professionals to develop tailored solutions for organizations' particular needs. Her contract work has included information technology, marketing, research and higher education, along with educational workshops. EMK Investment Group also encompasses her real estate investment activities. Across both areas, her guiding principle is to invest in the success of the organizations and communities she serves.
A real estate agent with Bennett Realty Solutions, Ms. Egypt guides clients through decisions that can shape their financial futures and their connection to a community. She works with first-time homebuyers learning to navigate the purchase process, homeowners preparing to sell and investors evaluating opportunities. She has also assisted sellers whose properties presented challenges in reaching a successful sale. Drawing on her experience in research, education and real estate investing, she helps clients understand their options and approach each transaction with greater clarity and confidence. Her interest in real estate grew from her own experience buying a home, and she has since made education and individual guidance central to her work with clients.
The arts have been another enduring part of her life and service. A pianist with bachelor's and master's degrees in music from The Catholic University of America, Ms. Egypt is the founder and president of the James Weldon Johnson Community School of the Arts. She established the organization with a founding board of community leaders that included the pastor of Second Baptist Church, its original home. Catholic University students were among its initial faculty and performing artists. The school has sought to expand access to music and other arts experiences including visual and literary arts, and Ms. Egypt has continued to champion the work of Black composers through performance and community programming.
After damage to the school's former building, the James Weldon Johnson Community School of the Arts sought a new home for its programs. In 2025, it partnered with Jerusalem Baptist Church to continue its community arts work. The school has presented its Black Composers Concert there since 2025, with Ms. Egypt among the featured performers. She continues to build support for expanded instruction and performance opportunities at the church.
Ms. Egypt has received two Dare to Excel Service Awards from Prince George's Community College. One recognized the quality of her proposal development, policy and market research for a collegewide committee; the other recognized her innovation on campus, including naming the award itself. She also received a Community Service Award from the Eastern Regional Conference of the National Association of Negro Musicians for her service in the arts and the Sword of Honor from Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity for Women for her fraternity service, including developing and maintaining an award-winning newsletter.
Looking ahead, Ms. Egypt will continue guiding institutions in using data and information to advance student success, equity and institutional effectiveness—a commitment that remains central to her work. She also intends to grow her consulting and arts work, bringing the same commitment to creativity, collaboration and practical solutions to the next stage of her career.
