Underscored by his adaptability and commitment to professional growth, Mr. Bertke's career of over two decades in consulting, engineering and design services is marked by a steady progression through increasingly complex and influential roles. Currently serving as the director of business development in power delivery at E2 Consulting Engineers, LP, he is pivotal in expanding the company's presence in the power delivery, distribution, transmission, substation, and renewable sectors. His responsibilities include helping to shape teams, meeting with new and existing clients to secure projects, and collaborating with executive leadership to ensure that the needs of every client are met.

Mr. Bertke is also responsible for developing and strengthening relationships that create new opportunities for E2 in power delivery engineering & design. He oversees efforts ranging from renewable energy projects such as solar fields and substations to the design of overhead & underground transmission and distribution infrastructure.

Before assuming his current directorship at E2 Consulting, Mr. Bertke served as a transmission department manager in power delivery, managing departmental operations related to transmission engineering & design and further honing his leadership skills within the organization. He came into E2 as a transmission and distribution (T&D) technical manager, where he contributed his expertise to a variety of projects while supporting business development initiatives and training existing staff.

Mr. Bertke's career spans more than two decades in engineering, design, consulting, and power delivery. He began his career in 2004 with Orchard, Hiltz & McCliment, Inc. (OHM) as an Engineering Technician, where he developed his foundation in engineering design and technical documentation. He continued building his experience with Commonwealth Associates in Jackson, Michigan, serving as a Transmission Line Designer from 2011 to 2013 before relocating to Florida and joining Stantec as a Transmission Line Designer from 2013 to 2016.

In 2016, Mr. Bertke joined UF Health as a Designer, where he gained additional experience supporting facility construction and infrastructure projects. Later that year, he returned to the power industry with Ampirical, progressing from Senior Designer to Technical Specialist. During his more than five years with the firm, he worked across transmission and distribution projects for major utilities, further developing his experience in line design, structures, engineering, and project leadership.

In 2022, Mr. Bertke founded BERTEK LLC, providing design consulting services while continuing to expand his experience in the utility industry. During this period, he also worked with Engineering Partners, Inc., where he held several leadership and technical roles supporting utility programs, including strategic undergrounding, transmission and distribution design, and pole replacement and conversion programs.

Mr. Bertke joined E2 Consulting Engineers, LP in 2024 as the T&D Technical Manager within the Power Delivery group. He subsequently served as Transmission Department Manager before moving into his current role as Director of Business Development for Power Delivery. Throughout his career, his progression from engineering and design to technical and department leadership has provided him with a broad understanding of both the technical and business sides of the power delivery industry.

Throughout every stage of his journey, Mr. Bertke has demonstrated exceptional adaptability by embracing change and taking on diverse responsibilities beyond traditional job descriptions. He takes pride in being willing to perform any task necessary to help a project succeed and finds fulfillment in teaching others what he has learned along the way. As a drafter by trade with advanced skills in three-dimensional modeling and computer-aided design (CAD) systems, he brings deep technical expertise in power delivery and business development.

Hailing from an equally accomplished scholastic background, Mr. Bertke earned a bachelor's degree in drafting and design technology with a minor in technology management from Siena Heights University in 2013 as well as an associate degree in drafting from Jackson College in 2003. The guidance of dedicated professors who introduced him to drafting during high school played a crucial role in shaping his path, with their encouragement that may have led him away from a planned military career toward higher education and ultimately into engineering design.

Reflecting on his storied journey to date, Mr. Bertke credits much of his success to persistence and continual self-reflection, always questioning if there is something better ahead, as well as the support of mentors who recognized his potential early on. The influence of those educators and supervisors helped him develop not only his technical proficiency but also the confidence needed to pursue new opportunities.

Beyond his professional commitments, Mr. Bertke enjoys volunteering when opportunities arise, particularly while traveling on behalf of E2 Consulting. He regularly joins local volunteer efforts organized by E2 offices, including initiatives such as preparing and packing lunches for children in need. His willingness to participate wherever he is, reflects his commitment to supporting the communities in which E2 works and giving back through personal involvement.

Happily married and a proud father of twins, one boy and one girl, Mr. Bertke cherishes his family life deeply. He enjoys spending time with his loved ones and maintains an active lifestyle through activities such as playing sports, watching the kids ride their bikes, going for walks or swimming together whenever possible. Fishing and other outdoor pursuits are also among his favorite pastimes.

Looking ahead, Mr. Bertke is focused on continuing to grow E2's Power Delivery group through strong client relationships, new opportunities, and quality engineering and design services. He is committed to bringing his experience and leadership to the continued growth of the company while supporting his teams, clients, and the communities E2 serves. Reflecting on his career, Mr. Bertke feels fortunate and blessed to be in the position he is in today, never imagining when he began his career that his path would lead him here. While he has goals for the future, he also recognizes that some of the best opportunities are the ones you never see coming. Rather than trying to map out every step, he plans to keep moving forward, stay open to new opportunities, and follow the path that feels right as the next chapter unfolds.
