Prior to launching Brokermatic.ai, Mr. DeSando served as software engineering manager at First American Financial Corporation from 2022 to 2026. His experience as a commercial insurance broker earlier in his career provided him with unique insight into the needs of business operators nationwide, enabling him to anticipate product requirements without extensive research.

From 2016 to 2020, Mr. DeSando held the position of staff software engineer at Intuit Inc. in Mountain View. He previously worked as a senior software engineer at Intuit Inc. in Menlo Park from 2011 to 2016. During his tenure at Intuit, he played a pivotal role in introducing performance optimizations across the marketing ecosystem that increased user conversion rates. This achievement earned him the CEO Award in 2011 along with $700,000 in dedicated team funding to continue optimization efforts.

Earlier roles in Mr. DeSando's career include serving as a software engineer at Kayak from 2009 to 2011 — now Booking Holdings — where he gained exposure to high-growth environments and innovative teams. From 2007 to 2009, he was a project manager and lead front-end web developer at Magellan Navigation Limited, further expanding his technical leadership capabilities.

Between 2004 and 2009, Mr. DeSando operated as an insurance agent-broker at DeSando Insurance Services, gaining firsthand experience with commercial insurance clients that would later inform his approach at Brokermatic.ai. His technical foundation was built through positions such as webmaster at TrueSan Networks from 2001 to 2002 and consultant for web development at The Gorilla Foundation from 2000 to 2001.

Mr. DeSando's professional journey began at age 16 when he was recruited as a contractor for web development at ConvergeNet Technologies, Inc., from 1998 to 2000. The company's subsequent acquisition by Dell Computer Corporation marked Dell's first acquisition and provided him the opportunity to meet Michael Dell personally. He continued as webmaster for Dell Computer Corporation in 2000 before moving on to other technology-driven roles.

Throughout his career, Mr. DeSando has cultivated expertise in strategic vision for artificial intelligence and agentic software adoption within the insurance industry, understanding commercial insurance broker needs, anticipatory product development and organizational team building, including talent acquisition and recruitment. Mr. DeSando's academic path diverged from traditional routes due to his early entry into the professional world. After being recruited by ConvergeNet Technologies during high school, he transitioned into independent studies while working full time and completing coursework in the evenings. He credits much of his success to the strong support of women who guided him personally — particularly his grandmother, who instilled a robust work ethic and can-do attitude, and his aunt, whose support proved invaluable throughout his formative years.

Civic engagement is integral to Mr. DeSando's values. For more than four years, he has volunteered regularly with Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, contributing close to one hundred hours sorting food and visiting distribution sites throughout the community. He finds particular fulfillment in interacting directly with individuals receiving assistance during distribution sessions, which allows him to better understand their circumstances and extend help beyond formal volunteering when possible.

Born in Los Gatos, CA, Mr. DeSando is a devoted father who takes great pride in his three teenage children. He enjoys baking with his youngest daughter, an interest he has encouraged through gifts of cookbooks and baking supplies, as well as watching Formula One racing with his oldest daughter, who shares his enthusiasm for sports cars.
