ACWORTH, GA, October 15, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Matthew R. Plemons, CLCS, ACLC, has been recognized for achievement in the insurance industry.
Mr. Plemons currently serves as a territory manager for Georgia at Employers, a position he has held since March 2026. In this capacity, he is responsible for checking transactions and monitoring business activity across the entire state territory. He manages pipeline activity from 99 agency partners, identifying matters that require underwriting or upper-management involvement based on premium volume.
Additionally, Mr. Plemons' role involves cultivating and strengthening relationships with agency partners through regular communication and engagement, as well as communicating promotions, new classifications, underwriting updates and other company changes to agents. He conducts between 65 and 70 virtual and in-person agency appointments each month to maintain strong partner engagement. His expertise in commercial insurance has established him as a respected leader in the field.
Prior to joining Employers, Mr. Plemons was the owner of an independent insurance agency, Plemons Inc., previously known as Plemons Insurance Agency, from 2012 to 2026. During this period, he built his agency from the ground up, growing it to over $7 million in premium before selling it in April 2025. This accomplishment stands as his most notable professional achievement, particularly given the prevalence of disengaged agents in the industry whom he refers to as "road agents — retired on active duty." Rather than follow that path, Mr. Plemons prioritized genuine engagement and work-life balance.
From 2010 to 2020, Mr. Plemons served as an agency owner for Plemons Insurance Agency under Nationwide Insurance. He participated in Nationwide's agency ownership program, completed all necessary qualifications and became an independent contractor in 2012. His earlier experience includes working as a licensed insurance agent at Liberty Mutual Insurance in Kennesaw from 2008 to 2010. Although he aspired to own his own agency at Liberty Mutual, the framework did not allow for that ambition, prompting his transition to Nationwide Insurance.
Throughout his career, Mr. Plemons has mentored several smaller agents, assisting them in navigating industry complexities and guiding them on whether ownership was the right path for them. He has provided advice on positioning themselves effectively with clients to secure new business opportunities, conducting numerous mentoring sessions over the years. After selling his agency, he briefly consulted for other insurance agents before moving to Employers on the carrier side, recognizing a significant need for producer development within the industry.
Mr. Plemons graduated from Etowah High School with a diploma. Opting not to pursue a four-year college education, he entered the workforce directly after graduation, motivated by the prospect of financial success and eager to begin his career in sales. He quickly realized that his skills in salesmanship surpassed what could be gained through academic study alone.
Mr. Plemons' professional credentials include certification as a commercial lines coverage specialist from the Insurance Certification Organization in 2016. Additionally, he holds licenses as an insurance broker for property and casualty and as an insurance agent for health, property and casualty from the Georgia Department of Insurance & Safety Fire beginning in 2008. He is also licensed for life insurance through the same department. These certifications have been instrumental in establishing his expertise within commercial insurance.
A personal motto guides Mr. Plemons' approach: "Successful people do what other people won't do." This principle has shaped both his professional conduct and personal life, motivating him to go above and beyond expectations — whether making extra calls late into the evening or helping friends with their needs regardless of complexity.
Mr. Plemons considers humility his most important quality, crediting his achievements to the mentors, managers, clients, friends and family who supported him along the way. He credits his faith and commitment to prayer for guiding his decisions and keeping him grounded, and views his success as a matter of grace rather than his own doing alone.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Mr. Plemons is involved with civic-minded organizations as a volunteer at his local church and local schools. His contributions reflect a commitment to supporting his community beyond business endeavors. Recognition for his achievements includes being named Rookie of the Year by Nationwide Insurance for the Southeast region in 2010 and receiving the Lamp Lighter Award from Liberty Mutual Insurance in 2009.
Born in Marietta, Mr. Plemons enjoys spending time with family, playing golf and mountain biking. He loves being outdoors whenever possible. Looking ahead, he aims to advance vertically within the carrier side of the industry by achieving a vice president role at Employers. He seeks greater influence over organizational direction while maintaining a strong connection to company roots and customer priorities.
A significant aspect of Mr. Plemons's mission is encapsulated in "Be The Difference," a mantra that guides his interactions with agents and appears throughout his communications and online presence, including his website dedicated to sharing insights from his personal journey. This focus on being a positive influence is grounded in his spiritual beliefs and reflects his calling to inspire others both within and beyond the insurance profession.
