COLUMBUS, OH, October 19, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sean C. Chaney has been recognized for achievement in information technology and fiber optic engineering services.

Marked by an equally diverse and impactful technology career of nearly three decades, Mr. Chaney has distinguished himself as a fiber optic engineer and geographic information systems coordinator at Team Fishel in Columbus, Ohio, where he has been pivotal in the company's success since 2018. Initially joining the organization in 2016 as a contractor in a technology systems capacity, he transitioned to a full-time position after two years of service.

In his current positions, Mr. Chaney is responsible for tracking, troubleshooting and resolving issues within fiber optic networks. He designs and manages circuits across multiple cities, overseeing critical infrastructure such as traffic signals, sewage systems, water utilities, police and 911 emergency systems. His oversight extends to two regional 911 systems as well, ensuring their continuous operation and reliability for their respective communities.

Alongside his work at Team Fishel, Mr. Chaney has excelled for a decade as a fiber optic network engineer for Columbus Fibernet, where he designs, documents and virtualizes fiber optic networks to strand level using OSPinSight, IQGeo, and other GIS and Network Management software. He also partially supports Metroduct Systems, another subsidiary of Team Fishel. Under his guidance, these organizations continue to collaborate effectively across their numerous divisions within the United States.

Though he has reached several milestones throughout his career, Mr. Chaney is particularly proud of his work in designing and managing hyper-scaler networks to strand level that connect data centers across campuses through middle-mile fiber infrastructure. He oversees a 125-mile fiber ring operated by Columbus Fibernet and facilitates a small team responsible for maintaining the private infrastructure that serves nearly 70 companies, including telecommunications carriers, internet service providers, municipalities, cloud, hyper-scalers and governments. This innovative approach, which involves leasing or selling ducts while retaining ownership, allows for enhanced protection and management of client facilities. His involvement also includes long-haul to last-mile fiber systems that support the world's internet throughout the country.

From 2013 to 2016, Mr. Chaney worked as a network engineer and fiber optic technician specializing in geographic information systems, intelligent transportation systems and advanced cabling solutions in Casselberry, Florida. His efforts during this time were influential in the design of smart city solutions and intelligent transport services for the Florida Department of Transportation, focusing on the virtualization and management of fiber networks.

For a decade prior, from 2003 to 2013, Mr. Chaney was employed by GRB Enterprises Inc., a Florida-based consulting firm where he provided information technology (IT) consulting and network administration services to approximately 35 regular clients across retail, healthcare, government and several other sectors. His transition from GRB ultimately led him into the specialized field of fiber optics.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Chaney spent six years contributing to HHI Design in Orlando, Florida, as a systems manager and engineer focused on theme park lighting design projects. He was involved in developing system-wide computer-aided design (CAD) parts for major theme parks such as Disney and Universal Studios before the industry experienced a downturn, which ultimately led him to pursue new opportunities elsewhere.

From 1999 to 2000, Mr. Chaney toured with Sesame Street Live in conjunction with Collin Company and VEE Corporation, managing merchandising operations and handling large character costumes during performances that enchanted audiences across the United States. He also served as an international help desk technician and trainer at Panasonic from 1998 to 1999 through American Staffing Co-op, providing technical support at their national help desk.

Also gaining diverse experience before entering the technology sector, Mr. Chaney briefly worked in construction, contributing to the building of multi-million dollar homes following his college graduation.

Hailing from an equally diverse and robust academic background, Mr. Chaney earned a postgraduate degree in network engineering technology from DPT Business School in Philadelphia in 1999, after relocating there to pursue further study in computer and networking technologies. Prior to this, he completed a bachelor's degree in anthropology with an emphasis in archaeology at the University of Cincinnati in 1995, participating in field school research at Fort Ancient. In 1993, he obtained a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from the same institution with concentrations in industrial design, geology, computer science and music.

To augment his knowledge and qualifications, Mr. Chaney was certified in statewide law enforcement radio system operations by the State of Florida in 2014 and in criminal justice information system security by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the United States Department of Justice. He also obtained credentials as a Microsoft certified professional and as a NetWare engineer and administrator through Novell, all in 1999.

Beyond his technical career, Mr. Chaney is known for his involvement with civic organizations and various creative endeavors, including his current volunteer position as vice president of the Clermont County Historical Society. A strong supporter of Native American earthworks preservation efforts, he has contributed scholarly work as the co-author of "The Eads earthwork: Implications for Hopewell ceremonialism," which was published on influential platforms including ResearchGate and Sage Journal in 2022.

Following his interests in his degree in anthropology with a focus in archeology, Mr. Chaney spent three decades researching Native American Earthworks, culminating in the development of his website Earthworks.site to promote the preservation, advancement of knowledge, research, and awareness of Native American Earthworks, and the cultures that created them.

Mr. Chaney has also shared his musical talents as a drummer with widespread audiences over the years; particularly inspired by the stylings of legendary Rush drummer Neil Peart, he has performed as a member of several bands including Exit 6, Beat Dogs and Dreams the Band. During his college years, he was a percussionist and percussion instructor for the University of Cincinnati Bearcat Bands from 1989 to 1997 and taught percussion with both the Cincinnati Glory Drum and Bugle Corps from 1995 to 1997 as well as performed with Limited Edition DCI Drum and Bugle Corps from 1991 to 1992.

Mr. Chaney started building laser projectors in junior high school and developed some of the modern technologies and designs that all laser show projectors are based on to this day. He has been an avid laserist behind the scenes for four decades.

Motivated by loving and supportive parents who encouraged his varied interests and pursuits throughout his life, Mr. Chaney credits their influence as foundational to his achievements across technology, music, construction and beyond.

Happily married and a proud pet parent with several cats at home, Mr. Chaney continues to pursue his passion for music today — particularly on the drums, which his father taught him to play at an early age before he began performing with rock and marching bands over the following decades. His current group is preparing to release 15 entirely new songs soon, having already published one track on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon Music.

Looking toward the future, Mr. Chaney remains enthusiastic about the ongoing opportunities presented by major data center expansions driven by hyper-scaler clients who require extensive infrastructure development — some requesting hundreds of miles of new network installations — which will keep him engaged as he continues his efforts to make global connectivity stronger and more accessible for the many individuals, families and communities served by his work.
