CLAYTON, NC, October 20, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Patricia LeGrand has been recognized for achievement in government and public service.

Ms. LeGrand's professional journey reflects a diverse and accomplished career shaped by adaptability, courage and a commitment to public service. In 2026, she began her campaign as a candidate for North Carolina Senate District 10, bringing decades of experience in government and civic engagement to the forefront of her political aspirations. Since 2019, she has also served as first vice president of the Senior Democrats of Johnston County, contributing to the advancement of senior issues and Democratic values within her community.

Beyond her political and civic leadership, Ms. LeGrand's dedication to animal welfare is evident through her ongoing role as a foster with Maggie Society Dog Rescue and Rehabilitation in Clayton, North Carolina, which she began in 2017. This commitment aligns with her broader civic involvement and passion for community service.

From 2012 to 2024, Ms. LeGrand held the position of retired senior buyer and planner at Grifols Biotherapeutics, following her tenure as senior buyer and planner from 2009 to 2012. These roles allowed her to apply her expertise in procurement and planning within the biotherapeutics sector.

Earlier in her career, Ms. LeGrand worked at the Midwest Stock Exchange in Omaha, Nebraska, where she gained foundational experience in finance. She later advanced to become a database designer and information technology consultant for Petroleum Information. During this period, she undertook international assignments in Tunisia, Nigeria and Indonesia, installing proprietary software systems for oil companies and training users abroad.

Despite facing significant personal risk — including travel under armed guard through European airports — Ms. LeGrand accepted these challenging postings against the advice of many peers. She regards this international work as the most significant and rewarding chapter of her career, proud of both the professional impact and the personal growth it fostered.

A pivotal moment came when Ms. LeGrand's husband's job loss prompted a family move from Colorado to California. There, she joined Miles Laboratories — now Bayer — transitioning into procurement and ascending to the role of senior buyer. Her expertise led to a transfer to North Carolina, where she initially worked in a test lab in Raleigh before continuing her procurement career in Clayton.

Throughout her career, Ms. LeGrand has been actively involved with several industry-related organizations. She is a member of Moms Demand Action and Down Home North Carolina, has served as former third vice chair for both the Johnston County Democratic Party and Democratic Women of Johnston County, and holds a seat on the state executive committee for the North Carolina Democratic Party. These affiliations underscore her dedication to advocacy and grassroots organizing.

Ms. LeGrand's academic achievements have played an essential role in shaping her professional path. She earned a Master of Arts in counseling psychology from National University in San Diego in 1995 after completing a Bachelor of Arts in bilingual and multilingual education at San Diego State University in 1992. Her educational background has supported her ability to communicate directly and honestly with others while maintaining respect and civility — qualities she credits as key contributors to her success.

Beyond professional pursuits, Ms. LeGrand is deeply engaged in civic activities. Since 2016, she has fostered dogs through Maggie Society Dog Rescue and served as co-leader of the Johnston County Chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby, advocating for environmental stewardship at the local level. She has also volunteered on election campaigns, further exemplifying her commitment to civic participation. Notably, her contributions have been recognized with honors such as the STARS Award from Democratic Women of North Carolina.

Raised on a farm near Fremont, Nebraska, where she was born in 1948, Ms. LeGrand's rural upbringing continues to influence her lifestyle choices today. After relocating from California for a position at Bayer, she chose Clayton over Raleigh for its affordability and quieter atmosphere that reminded her of country living. Her home sits adjacent to property with horses — animals she enjoys feeding — reflecting her enduring connection to rural life.
