/24-7PressRelease/ - San Benito, TX, June 19, 2008, Joaquin Lopez, Senior Vice President of Operations for First Community Bank, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of banking.
With 29 years of bank operations experience, Mr. Lopez has been in his current position at First Community Bank for three years. As senior vice president of operations, he is responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction, and overseeing the information technology unit, teller operations and cash management. First Community Bank provides financial services including deposits, loans, cash management and individual retirement accounts and recently introduced new cash management services in the form of an online banking system for businesses. Mr. Lopez previously served First Community Bank in the operations area, from which he was promoted to vice president of operations before attaining his current position.
In addition to his banking career, Mr. Lopez is also the author of "Exiled," a science fiction novel published in 2003. The story of a young man who grew up in a palace during wartime and followed a mission to fulfill promises to others, it is to be followed by a sequel entitled "Redemption," expected to be published next year. Mr. Lopez considers his books to be his greatest achievement, as well as becoming an Accredited ACH Professional. He keeps current with the trends in his profession by taking part in continuing education and attending conferences and seminars, and believes that the most important issue facing the banking industry is government regulations. He hopes to one day become Chief Operations Officer and eventually a shareholder.
Mr. Lopez received his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from The University of Texas-Pan American in 1990. He sits on the board of the Rio Grande Valley Chapter of the Risk Management Association and serves as Treasurer of the Second Baptist Church in Harlingen, for which he automated record keeping processes. He attributes his success to his hard work.
