AVENEL, NJ, October 20, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Debaditya Chakravorty is a technology leader specializing in data and artificial intelligence, with more than 15 years of experience spanning data engineering, machine learning, enterprise data platforms, cloud architecture, artificial intelligence, data governance, and AI governance.

Mr. Chakravorty currently serves as Senior Director, Data and AI Engineering and Governance at PGIM in Newark, New Jersey, a position he has held since March 2026. In this role, he leads teams and initiatives focused on enterprise data and AI capabilities, with responsibility for developing technology and governance frameworks that enable organizations to discover, manage, govern, and securely use data and AI assets.

At PGIM, Mr. Chakravorty has been instrumental in developing an enterprise data and AI governance platform that brings together metadata management, data cataloging, data lineage, data-product governance, and AI governance capabilities. The platform enables data product owners, domain owners, data stewards, and business users to manage and understand their data assets while supporting governance requirements across the data and AI lifecycle.

A significant focus of his work is the application of engineering principles to AI governance. Rather than treating governance solely as a policy or compliance function, Mr. Chakravorty focuses on building governance capabilities directly into technology platforms and engineering processes. His work encompasses AI risk management, responsible AI practices, data and model lineage, explainability, lifecycle controls, access management, and governance mechanisms for emerging technologies such as generative AI and AI agents.

His AI engineering work includes the design and development of enterprise AI solutions involving generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation, metadata-aware applications, and AI agents. He focuses on the broader engineering systems required to operate AI in enterprise environments, including data foundations, retrieval, security, evaluation, observability, lineage, access controls, and lifecycle management.

Mr. Chakravorty's approach is guided by the principle that governance should enable AI rather than constrain it. His work seeks to establish practical governance mechanisms that allow organizations to adopt new AI capabilities while maintaining appropriate standards for security, transparency, accountability, risk management, and responsible use.

Prior to becoming Senior Director, Mr. Chakravorty served as Director, Data and AI Engineering and Governance at PGIM from 2025 to early 2026. During this period, he led initiatives involving enterprise data architecture, cloud platforms, data products, metadata management, generative AI, and governance. His responsibilities included advancing technology capabilities that allowed business teams to discover and use enterprise data while establishing governance practices to support secure and responsible adoption of AI.

From 2021 to 2025, Mr. Chakravorty served as Director and Technology Lead at Prudential Financial, where he led the development of an enterprise data platform designed to enable the integration and consumption of diverse data sources for business applications, analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

As the technology lead for the initiative, he helped architect and build the platform in the cloud and established engineering capabilities for enterprise data products, data integration, metadata management, discovery, governance, and data consumption. The platform supported multiple business areas and became an important component of Prudential's broader enterprise data transformation efforts.

Mr. Chakravorty joined Prudential in 2017 as a Lead Machine Learning Engineer, where he worked on machine learning and data-intensive technology initiatives. His experience in machine learning subsequently expanded into enterprise data-platform engineering and technology leadership, allowing him to work across the full lifecycle from data foundations to AI applications and governance.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Chakravorty spent six years at Tata Consultancy Services, from 2011 to 2017, as a Senior Data and Machine Learning Engineer in the data and analytics organization. During this period, he worked as a consultant supporting Morgan Stanley for more than five years, contributing to large-scale data, statistical, analytics, and machine learning initiatives. This experience established the engineering foundation for his later work in enterprise data platforms, cloud technologies, and artificial intelligence.

Mr. Chakravorty's professional career began with a research internship at Oil India Limited, a Navratna company, in 2010 while he was pursuing his undergraduate degree. His early research and industry experience introduced him to technology-driven problem solving and applied research.

He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, conferred in 2011. He completed an executive program in Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy through MIT Sloan Executive Education in 2020 and an executive program in Machine Learning for Finance at the University of Chicago in 2022. He also completed a postgraduate degree in Artificial Intelligence from The University of Texas at Austin in 2022.

His technical credentials include AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, together with specialized certifications and training in neural networks and deep learning, generative AI, Snowflake, and Teradata technologies.

Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Mr. Chakravorty has maintained an active interest in research and technology innovation. His early research includes work on clustering algorithms for intrusion detection systems, including research published through ICTIS in 2010 and an advanced clustering-based intrusion detection algorithm published by Springer in 2011. He has also contributed to technical projects and publications, including OPS360, and continues to explore research topics involving artificial intelligence, AI engineering, data systems, and AI governance.

Mr. Chakravorty is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), reflecting his continued engagement with the broader engineering and technology community. He participates in professional and technical activities related to emerging technologies and remains interested in advancing the practical application of artificial intelligence.

Throughout his career, Mr. Chakravorty has received recognition for technical leadership, innovation, mentorship, and business impact. In 2026 at PGIM, he received the Biggest Potential Impact Award, the PGIM Excellence Award, and recognition for Best Idea Implementation on Client Experience. Earlier recognition includes the Best Mentor Award from TCS BFS EUC at Tata Consultancy Services in 2014 and a Technical Excellence Award from Prudential Customer Office in 2019.

A defining aspect of Mr. Chakravorty's career has been his willingness to take on complex technology challenges and build solutions in areas where established approaches are still evolving. His experience spans machine learning, data engineering, cloud architecture, enterprise data platforms, generative AI, AI agents, data governance, and AI governance. This combination of engineering and governance experience enables him to approach enterprise AI not simply as a model or application problem, but as a broader technology discipline involving data, infrastructure, security, governance, and operational controls.

His current professional focus is on the evolution of enterprise AI engineering and governance. As organizations increasingly adopt generative AI and AI agents, Mr. Chakravorty is focused on developing the engineering and governance capabilities necessary to deploy these technologies securely, responsibly, and at scale. His work aims to help organizations establish practical foundations for AI adoption while maintaining transparency, accountability, appropriate controls, and trust throughout the AI lifecycle. Beyond his professional pursuits, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Puja, and their daughter, Aditi.
