HESPERIA, CA, October 21, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- OSharon Green has been recognized for her achievements in community leadership and social services, honoring a career dedicated to helping individuals and families overcome barriers to housing, education, employment and personal stability.

Since 2009, Dr. Green has served as president and chief executive officer of the Victor Valley Family Resource Center. Her work brings together direct assistance, community partnerships, and advocacy to address housing insecurity, educational needs, job readiness, and mental health. Through these efforts, she has focused on helping people rebuild their lives while addressing the conditions that prevent lasting stability.

Under Dr. Green's leadership, the organization has expanded its offerings to include fair housing education and financial literacy training. Working closely with county and city agencies, she supports efforts to improve housing outcomes and create pathways to homeownership. Her responsibilities include operational oversight, grant writing, and program development, connecting the organization's daily work with the community's evolving needs.

A defining chapter in Dr. Green's housing advocacy began in 2016, when she partnered with the American Civil Liberties Union to challenge a Hesperia city ordinance that targeted her housing initiative. The resulting settlement preserved the program and enabled its work to continue. Dr. Green also advocated at the state level to address housing policy concerns. The legal effort received coverage in the Los Angeles Times and The New York Times, bringing wider attention to her work in housing access, civil rights, and community development.

For Dr. Green, this work matters beyond programs and policy. Among her proudest accomplishments are the personal transformations she has witnessed: individuals overcoming deeply rooted prejudices, rebuilding their lives and finding renewed purpose through faith-based support and community engagement.

Dr. Green reports that a program she leads has achieved an 85% success rate in helping participants attain stability. She credits her seven-member team with those outcomes and with sustaining the organization's commitment to the people it serves.

Her community leadership also extends to regional collaboration. From 2012 to 2023, Dr. Green chaired the San Bernardino County Homeless Provider Network, served on the Board of the High Desert Regional Steering Committee, and was a member of the San Bernardino City and County Continuum of Care, working with community partners to address homelessness and improve service delivery across Southern California. This role complements her direct-service work by bringing providers together around shared community needs.

Faith and ministry have been central to Dr. Green's service. In 2006, Bishop Charles Edward Blake appointed her as an Administrative Teacher at Higher Praise Tabernacle North. According to Dr. Green, she was one of three women Bishop Blake appointed under that title and was given what he described as the "authority of a pastor until the By-Laws are changed." Her appointment entrusted her with pastoral authority rather than ordination as a pastor. In that capacity, she has provided spiritual leadership, expanded church-based tutoring programs and responded to emerging needs involving housing and family support.

Dr. Green attributes her entry into ministry to the influence of her first husband, who founded the church where she now provides pastoral leadership. She continues to draw strength and direction from her faith, beginning each day with meditation, prayer and reading before turning to the demands of organizational leadership and community service.

Before leading the Victor Valley Family Resource Center, Dr. Green developed extensive experience in telecommunications and operations management. She served as a supervisor at GTE/Verizon from 1983 to 2006 and at Sprint PCS Communication Systems from 1997 to 2000. Her professional career began as a sales representative at Montgomery Ward. These experiences helped shape the management and communication skills she later brought to nonprofit leadership.

Dr. Green earned an Associate of Science in business from Victor Valley College in Victorville, California, in 2000 and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix in 2006. She has also received honorary doctorates in humanities and theology.

Her affiliations reflect her longstanding commitment to civil rights and community advancement. Dr. Green is an active member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and serves on the boards of the Inland Empire Civil Rights Institute in Riverside, California, and the Regional Continuum of Care for Southern California. She previously served as a board member for the Countywide Continuum of Care.

In recognition of her contributions, Dr. Green has received certificates from the County Board of Supervisors, commendations from the State Assemblyperson Jay Olbernolte over several years, and acknowledgment from the American Civil Liberties Union. Her honorary doctorates further recognize her contributions to service and ministry.

Dr. Green credits her accomplishments to her faith, her relationship with God and the dedication of those who work alongside her. Her approach to leadership remains grounded in a commitment to seeing people not only receive assistance but also regain stability, dignity and opportunities for the future.

Family remains central to her life. Dr. Green is married to Pastor Christopher Green, and has six children, 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with family, and she plans to return to school to pursue a law degree—continuing a lifelong commitment to learning, advocacy and service.
