COSTA MESA, CA, October 21, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Margret Jane Bailey (Janie) has been recognized for achievement in education.

Mrs. Bailey's distinguished career in education spans nearly four decades with the Baldwin Park Unified School District in Baldwin Park, California, where she currently serves as a transitional kindergarten teacher. In this role, she guides four-year-old students through a formative year that bridges preschool and kindergarten, fostering early academic and social development. Mrs. Bailey's expertise in early childhood education has been widely recognized, and she is celebrated for her ability to teach every grade from transitional kindergarten through sixth grade, often adapting to various classroom combinations to meet the district's needs.

Earlier in her tenure, Mrs. Bailey dedicated 15 years to facilitating the district's gifted and talented education program. As the program's structure evolved from a centralized instructional location to a site-based program in which designated teachers at each school led lessons, Mrs. Bailey played a vital role in collaborating with fellow educators to shape the curriculum and deliver monthly enrichment experiences for upper-grade students. She contributed to innovative themes, such as "Trials and Tribulations," which explored historical events like the Dust Bowl and the Japanese American internment camps, and "Spark of Genius," which focused on the childhoods of renowned composers and inventors. Her commitment to gifted education was put on hold when she chose to focus on her dissertation, stepping back from the program during the previous two years of her involvement.

In addition to her primary teaching roles, Mrs. Bailey has worked as a part-time reviewer for a publishing company. This opportunity has allowed her to evaluate educational materials, and she has become recognized as an expert in both curriculum development and editing.

Mrs. Bailey's academic background has been instrumental in shaping her approach as an educator. Her academic journey began with a bachelor's degree in liberal studies in 1988 and a master's degree in elementary education, with a focus on curriculum and instruction in mathematics for kindergarten through grade four, in 1992, from California State University, Los Angeles. Mrs. Bailey's commitment to professional excellence is supported by multiple credentials, including a certificate of differentiation from the University of Southern California, a technology certification from the University of La Verne, and two early childhood education certificates from Orange Coast College.

Further supporting her professional journey, Mrs. Bailey has maintained active membership in several industry organizations, including the NAEYC and the California Math Council. These affiliations reflect her dedication to ongoing professional growth and her engagement with the broader educational community. Beyond her classroom responsibilities, Mrs. Bailey has contributed significantly to civic life and extracurricular activities. She has volunteered with Petal Pushers and has served as the secretary for her daughter's middle and high school music programs for several years, supporting music education after the students leave elementary school.

Mrs. Bailey's achievements have been recognized through several honors, including Teacher of the Year awards in 2008 and 2020 within Baldwin Park Unified School District. Earlier in her academic career, she was named to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges in 1987. Mrs. Bailey credits much of her drive to challenge traditional expectations set by her grandfather, who believed only firstborn grandsons would receive an education or similar opportunities. Determined to prove otherwise, she established herself as an accomplished educator and lifelong learner.

Born in Pasadena, California, Mrs. Bailey is proud of her family's legacy within Baldwin Park Unified School District. Not only has she taught there for nearly four decades, but she also attended school there as a student and later became a parent while her daughter progressed through the district's schools.

Mrs. Bailey is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education at the American College of Education, having recently received Institutional Review Board approval for her dissertation and preparing for her defense in the spring. Looking ahead, she is considering writing children's books that blend mathematical concepts with stories inspired by her journeys and experiences as an educator. With Orange Coast College nearby, she hopes to return as a lifelong learner by enrolling in courses such as agriculture, astronomy, marine biology, or geology, or possibly joining their staff if new opportunities arise. Additionally, Mrs. Bailey envisions contributing further to educational publishing by developing curricula or working as an editor once she completes her doctorate. Her enduring dedication to education, commitment to professional growth, and passion for lifelong learning continue to inspire those around her as she looks forward to new chapters both personally and professionally.
