Mr. Ballard has built a distinguished career in the legal profession spanning over 30 years, marked by expertise in family law, divorce, family practice and criminal defense. For the past two years, he has served as attorney, partner and litigation chair at Diamond, Fee, Kalos & Ballard PLLC. In this capacity, Mr. Ballard has become sought after for his skill in navigating complex family law matters, with approximately 80% of his practice dedicated to family law and divorce cases and the remaining 20% focused on criminal defense. Before joining Diamond, Fee, Kalos & Ballard PLLC in 2024, Mr. Ballard owned and operated Jaye Ballard & Associates PLLC from 2001 to 2025. Achieving his goal of working for himself was a milestone that brought him immense pride. Over more than two decades as the owner, Mr. Ballard developed a respected practice and cultivated the experience and skills necessary to become a leader in his field.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Ballard contributed to the New York City Law Department, where he gained valuable insights into municipal legal processes. He also worked as an assistant district attorney at the Kings County District Attorney's Office, dating back to 1995, which provided him with significant trial experience and exposure to criminal law and continues to inform his current work in criminal defense.

Mr. Ballard's academic background laid the groundwork for his accomplishments. After completing a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice, government and politics at the University of Maryland in College Park in 1992, he earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the College of Law at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln in 1995. Mr. Ballard's growth was further shaped by membership in Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Inc. whose achievement-driven environment motivated him to excel academically and professionally. The support and inspiration from fraternity brothers helped nurture the ambition seeded by his mother during his formative years. As a first-generation college graduate, Mr. Ballard's mother provided unwavering encouragement and determination. The values she instilled became especially meaningful during college when he learned to navigate challenges independently while drawing strength from her example.

Throughout his professional journey, Mr. Ballard has been recognized for achieving a high level of expertise in his areas of focus. He is an active member of several prominent legal organizations that add to his success, including the New York State Bar Association, the Metropolitan Black Bar Association, the National Black Bar Association, the Women's Bar Association and, among others, the King County Bar Association. These memberships reflect Mr. Ballard's commitment to professional development and advocacy within the legal community.

Beyond his professional obligations, Mr. Ballard is committed to civic engagement and service. He provides pro bono legal work through the New York State Bar and volunteers with Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. Mr. Ballard's dedication to community service underscores a broader commitment to supporting others both within and outside the legal profession.
