SOUTHLAKE, TX, October 27, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sherri Brice has been recognized for achievement in information technology management and telecommunications.

Ms. Brice's professional journey reflects a distinguished record in information technology management and telecommunications, fields in which she has achieved expert status. Her most recent and culminating role was as vice president at Openet, where she became the first woman to hold this executive position. Ms. Brice's tenure at Openet concluded with her retirement in 2021. Her leadership at Openet not only marked a personal milestone but also contributed to the broader advancement of women in technology, a cause she championed throughout her career.

Before joining Openet, Ms. Brice brought her expertise to Convergys and Alltel, where she continued to build on her reputation for effective management and strategic insight. Earlier, she served as manager at MCI, leading teams that consistently delivered high profits and operational success. Her career began at LTV, an aerospace and defense company, where she entered the industry after earning her degree and quickly advanced from the tooling department to managing a team of analysts responsible for programming and business reporting.

For roughly three decades of her career, Ms. Brice was often the only woman in the room, navigating a predominantly male industry while helping to drive a shift toward greater female representation in leadership roles. Ms. Brice takes particular pride in having contributed to this evolution within telecommunications, paving the way for future generations of women leaders, including her granddaughters.

Her academic foundation is rooted in a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from The University of Texas at Arlington, earned through night classes while balancing work responsibilities. This degree provided the technical grounding that enabled her to excel in programming, systems analysis and project management across multiple organizations. Ms. Brice credits much of her professional resilience and success to lessons learned as an athlete. Excelling in both team sports, such as basketball, and individual events, such as track, during her youth instilled confidence and tenacity — qualities reinforced by coaches, parents and mentors throughout her life.

A defining moment in Ms. Brice's career came during her time at AT&T when a vice president questioned whether she was strong enough for a critical assignment. Rather than be discouraged, she used his skepticism as motivation, ultimately delivering results so compelling that he later acknowledged his initial doubts were unfounded. This experience underscored her belief in relying on facts rather than opinions and in maintaining boldness without disregarding others.

In addition to her information technology credentials, Ms. Brice obtained a real estate license and worked briefly in that field before deciding to focus on technology due to the unpredictability of commission-based income.

Beyond her corporate achievements, Ms. Brice has demonstrated longstanding commitment to civic involvement and community service. She has served as an advisory board member for the City of Southlake, Texas; volunteered with Meals on Wheels for three decades; and contributed her time to the City of Grapevine, the City of Southlake, and local schools as a front desk volunteer. These roles reflect her dedication to giving back to the communities where she has lived and worked.

Her notable accomplishments were recognized with honors such as Customer Service Manager of the Year, Top Revenue-Generating Account Manager, and a full-ride track scholarship awarded during her academic years.

Born in Denver, Colorado, Ms. Brice moved to Oklahoma at age two and spent 23 years there before relocating to Texas, then to Georgia, and eventually returning to Texas. After retiring from Openet in 2021, she transitioned into a multigenerational household with her son and his family. Currently working part-time at a children's boutique and volunteering locally, Ms. Brice remains open to new opportunities while enjoying travel — most recently taking a two-week road trip through several states.

Ms. Brice's legacy is defined by perseverance, adaptability and advocacy for women's advancement in technology — values that continue to inspire those around her both professionally and personally.
