CHATTAHOOCHEE HILLS, GA, October 28, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bruce A. Winter, DDS, has been recognized for achievement in healthcare, specifically in dentistry.
Dr. Winter's distinguished career in dentistry spans more than four decades, marked by expertise in general and cosmetic dentistry and a reputation for excellence within the profession. Currently, as a dentist at Bruce A. Winter DDS, Dr. Winter primarily consults with colleagues and other dentists on complex cosmetic dentistry cases, advising on optimal procedures and their sequencing. While he is no longer heavily involved in direct patient care after providing it for roughly 35 years, he remains committed to meeting with patients in person to evaluate completed results. This transition to a consulting role allows Dr. Winter to leverage his extensive knowledge and experience while reducing the physical demands of daily practice.
From 1990 to 2005, Dr. Winter served as the founding president of Downtown Dental Center in Atlanta. Establishing this large restorative and cosmetic dentistry practice stands as the highlight of his professional journey. Under his leadership, the practice grew rapidly, eventually employing more than five full-time dentists and serving approximately 14,000 patients. Dr. Winter oversaw all operations as the first president, guiding a large team of auxiliary staff and fostering a collaborative environment that contributed to the center's reputation throughout Atlanta's central business district.
Notably, Downtown Dental Center played a critical role in responding to community needs during significant events, such as providing care for victims following a major high-rise fire and accommodating emergency dental cases referred by local hotels during Atlanta's busy convention seasons. After 15 years at the helm, Dr. Winter sold the practice to two doctors who had worked alongside him, finding the decision timely as he transitioned into consulting.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Winter was appointed as the chief of staff at Lee Dental Center PC in Atlanta after two years with the organization. He later became owner of the dental facility, further developing his leadership skills and expanding his impact within the dental community. These formative experiences laid the groundwork for Dr. Winter's later achievements and provided valuable insights into both clinical practice and organizational management.
A strong academic foundation underpins Dr. Winter's professional accomplishments. His initial area of study focused on finance, pre-dentistry and dentistry before earning a Doctor of Dental Surgery from The Ohio State University in 1984. This multidisciplinary education equipped him with both clinical expertise and business acumen essential for building successful practices and leading large teams.
Dr. Winter's professional affiliations reflect his dedication to advancing dental practice standards and supporting peer collaboration. He is a life member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association and the Northern District Dental Society. Additionally, Dr. Winter is affiliated with the Academy of General Dentistry, maintains alum membership with Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity and Psi Omega Dental Fraternity, and participates in The Ohio State University Dental Alumni Society.
Outside his professional pursuits, Dr. Winter has cultivated a rich personal life shaped by diverse interests. He is passionate about traveling to the U.K., France and Italy, where he researches and adds to an extensive collection of period English furniture dating from 1690 to 1820, with an emphasis on the 18th century, French furniture from approximately 1715 to 1810, which also emphasizes the 18th century, and Italian period furniture from the same era. Dr. Winter's collecting interests extend to Chinese export porcelain spanning from the Song dynasty through the early Republic period, which spans from roughly 1300 to 1920, as well as English porcelain from the Regency period around 1800 to 1810. Additionally, he collects old master paintings from the Italian school, focusing on works from the late Renaissance beginning around 1550 through the Baroque period up to 1700. He values these eras as pinnacles of craftsmanship and artistry before industrialization transformed production methods.
In addition to art and antiques, Dr. Winter raises championship bloodline standard poodles, an endeavor he began approximately 25 years ago when he found more time outside dentistry. Most of his current dogs have Swedish bloodlines acquired through connections in the dog-showing community across Europe.
Throughout his career, Dr. Winter has been recognized for his commitment to comprehensive cosmetic dentistry. He is particularly known for developing thorough treatment plans that address both aesthetic concerns and overall oral health, often guiding cases that require extended timelines involving orthodontics, implants and other advanced procedures. Dr. Winter's approach emphasizes careful planning and lasting results rather than quick fixes.
Dr. Winter's lifelong commitment to excellence in dentistry, combined with his passion for collecting art and raising championship animals, underscores a legacy defined by curiosity, craftsmanship and service both within his profession and beyond it. Looking ahead, he expresses satisfaction with his career achievements and does not feel compelled to pursue additional professional milestones. Dr. Winter continues to enjoy exploring architecture throughout Europe while deepening his appreciation for art history despite having an academic background rooted in finance and dentistry rather than fine arts.
