TULSA, OK, October 29, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jewel Montgomery Smay, MD, MBA, president and chief executive officer of Montgomery Anesthesia Service PC, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the September 2026 Chicago, Illinois, regional issue of Vogue magazine.

For more than a decade, Dr. Smay has demonstrated a commitment to patient care in her career as an anesthesiologist. Originally entering medical school with the intention of becoming a surgeon, she discovered early on that she felt a strong affinity for anesthesiology. Dr. Smay recognized how important it was to provide patients with mindfulness and consideration during the vulnerable state of being under anesthesia. In pursuit of high-quality care, she founded her own company, Montgomery Anesthesia Service, PC, in 2013.

As the president and chief executive officer of Montgomery Anesthesia Service, Dr. Smay offers coaching and training services to others in the field. She helps hospitals integrate treatments and techniques for anesthesia administration, leading to improved health care outcomes. Dr. Smay specializes in pediatric anesthesia, having successfully handled many challenging scenarios, such as working with a baby who weighed less than two pounds. She has proudly never lost a patient during the anesthesia process.

Alongside operating Montgomery Anesthesia Service, Dr. Smay has gained experience in numerous other professional capacities. Before starting her career properly, she taught as an assistant professor at the University of Oklahoma. Beginning in 2014, she contributed as a pediatric anesthesiologist at the St. John Health System, followed by similar positions at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2017 and the Hillcrest HealthCare System in 2019.

Dr. Smay's most noteworthy appointment outside of her own company was her tenure as a medical director with NorthStar Anesthesia. Joining the organization just as the COVID-19 pandemic began, she was thrown into the role of an essential worker. Despite extreme stress and witnessing tragedies, Dr. Smay persevered and proved her leadership skills, leading to a promotion to regional medical director in 2022. She left the company in 2023 to refocus on running her own business.

Outside of her professional accomplishments, Dr. Smay is married and a devoted mother to two children, ages 6 and 7. Beyond continued success with Montgomery Anesthesia Service, she aspires to find an executive-level leadership position in the health care sector. Dr. Smay also hopes to join the board of a Fortune 500 corporation, with a particular eye toward companies in the life science, biotechnology and pharmaceutical spaces.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Before venturing onto her vocational path, Dr. Smay built a strong foundation through her academic journey, beginning with a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Duke University in 1995. She obtained an MD from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 2007. Dr. Smay stayed affiliated with that institution while completing a residency in anesthesiology in 2011 and a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology in 2012. Returning to school more recently, she earned a Master of Business Administration in health sector management from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business in 2023.
