LIBERTY HILL, TX, November 2, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Paul Titus Adams has been recognized for achievement in the music and education services industries. A pianist and piano teacher, Mr. Adams is the founder and chief executive officer of Virtual Piano Lessons, LLC, which does business as 1on1 Piano, an online platform for live lessons between piano teachers and their students. He has led the company since its founding in 2017.

Mr. Adams grew up in rural eastern Washington, where his family ran a biotechnology company that designed and manufactured diagnostic tests for animal diseases. He worked in nearly every part of the business, from laboratory work to quality control and marketing. He was homeschooled with a classical education centered on writing, history, scripture and original languages. The nearest leading piano teachers were five hours away, an experience that later shaped his conviction that a student's location should not limit access to a great teacher.

He began at the University of Idaho as a double major in microbiology and music before committing fully to the piano, earning a Bachelor of Music in piano performance in 2012. At the University of Kansas, he served as a graduate teaching assistant from 2013 to 2015 and earned a master's degree in piano performance in 2016.

At Kansas, his professor knew Mr. Adams had grown up repairing tractors and building computers from spare parts, so he put him in charge of the technology for Pianos Without Borders, a program that taught underserved students in Kansas City remotely from the Lawrence campus. The program paired Skype with separate software that linked the teacher's piano to the student's. The setup was unreliable and difficult to run, but because the instruments were linked, the lessons were remarkably immersive. Mr. Adams concluded that the idea deserved a single, reliable application that any teacher and student could use.

He began building it in 2016 with a developer friend, and its first proof of concept went directly into use at Pianos Without Borders. Over the following years the team built a Chrome version, a Windows application and an iOS app limited to two participants. The current platform runs on a framework built by an engineer who joined Mr. Adams after working on the iOS version, designed for larger rooms and multiple cameras with the stability weekly lessons require.

Today, 1on1 Piano brings up to 99 pianists into a single live video room, each playing a digital piano connected to the app over MIDI. Teachers can switch between multiple cameras, use a shared whiteboard and preset scenes, record lessons as they teach, and stream to YouTube or within the app. The company also operates 1on1 Piano Match, a free service with nearly 300 participating teachers that pairs students with teachers by musical interest, skill level and personality.

Mr. Adams continues to teach piano online himself. He regards teaching as a privilege and believes human teachers matter more than ever as gamified apps become a common way to learn, since piano is a deeply physical skill and students without a teacher's guidance tend to plateau early.

Mr. Adams is a member of the Music Teachers National Association. He met his wife at the University of Kansas, and the couple later settled in the Austin area to be near her family and enjoy Texas ranch life.
