As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Vitale currently serves as the Director of the Entrepreneurial Center for Innovation and Social Impact at St. John's College High School in Washington, District of Columbia, a role he began in 2024. In this capacity, he is responsible for teaching college-level entrepreneurship courses, developing business plans with students and encouraging problem-solving skills applicable to daily life. He has implemented project-based learning methods and introduced new classes, such as Introduction to Business and Personal Finance, providing students with opportunities to earn Advanced Placement credit.
Among his responsibilities, Mr. Vitale mentors a student-run vending machine business, overseeing market research, inventory management and student involvement in business decision-making. Additionally, he maintains an indoor aeroponic produce farm at the school that emphasizes sustainable practices and facilitates hands-on experiences in entrepreneurship. He considers his greatest professional fulfillment to be the opportunity to positively influence young adults through education, entrepreneurship, and mentorship. He particularly values hearing from students who have gained the confidence to pursue their own paths, challenge conventional expectations, and recognize opportunities they may not have previously considered.
Mr. Vitale's goal in this program is to equip students with both a strong academic foundation and practical entrepreneurial skills that prepare them for success in business after graduation. He believes entrepreneurship education should extend beyond teaching students how to build successful businesses. His approach emphasizes that financial success and social responsibility can coexist, encouraging students to recognize entrepreneurship as a means of creating value, solving problems, and making meaningful contributions to their communities.
From 2022 to 2024, Mr. Vitale was the assistant coach for men's lacrosse at Norwich University in Vermont. During his time, he wrote an original entrepreneurship curriculum that integrated his academic background and real-world business experience. This innovative approach to education garnered attention from St. John's College High School and contributed to his transition into secondary education leadership.
During the preceding year, Mr. Vitale served as a graduate assistant at Cairn University in Pennsylvania while pursuing his Master of Business Administration degree. Between 2016 and 2019, he was the head coach of men's lacrosse at Purdue University in Indiana. While coaching, he co-founded an aeroponic produce farm with his family, gaining firsthand entrepreneurial experience by managing a farm-to-table operation and navigating business challenges.
Mr. Vitale's educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science in marketing from Kean University in New Jersey, which he earned in 2015. As a standout lacrosse goalie during his undergraduate years, he developed leadership qualities that would later inform his coaching and teaching style before earning a Master of Business Administration from Cairn University in Pennsylvania in 2022. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership at Liberty University.
Mr. Vitale attributes much of his success to the unwavering support of his family, particularly his mother, Sherry Vitale, whose encouragement and entrepreneurial spirit have played an important role in his personal and professional development. He also expresses gratitude for the mentorship and support of the administration at St. John's College High School, particularly Principal Ian McInnis and Assistant Principal Kat O'Connor, among many others who have supported his transition into secondary education.
Outside his professional work, Mr. Vitale's civic engagement includes serving as an advisor to the DECA chapter at St. John's College High School beginning in 2025 and as head coach of the Indianapolis Wheelchair Lacrosse Team for four years. His commitment to community service is reflected through these roles as well as through the educational programs he develops. As giving back to the community is a core value of his entrepreneurship classes, he considers these efforts in his own life to be of utmost importance.
Mr. Vitale's professional excellence has been recognized with several awards, including the 40 Under 40 Lafayette Entrepreneur Award, Player of the Year honors, a semi-professional championship title, a fourth-overall ranking in the National Collegiate Athletic Association, and collegiate rookie of the year recognition. He is also proud to have contributed to Lafayette Magazine, sharing insights drawn from his entrepreneurial ventures in the aeroponic farming industry.
Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Vitale maintains close ties to his family; his mother resides near him in Takoma Park, Montgomery County, Maryland, while his father, Joe Vitale remains in Philadelphia. The family's entrepreneurial spirit is rooted in their shared experience building a produce farm together. In his personal life, Mr. Vitale enjoys golfing, snowboarding, riding motorcycles and playing guitar.
Looking ahead, Mr. Vitale intends to expand the entrepreneurial program at St. John's College High School into a comprehensive business concentration that attracts broad student interest and serves as a model for other schools seeking to provide innovative educational experiences focused on business acumen and social responsibility. His vision centers on preparing students for future success while fostering a commitment to community impact and systemic change within education.
