MIRROR LAKE, NH, November 04, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Donna Woodsom has been recognized for achievement in beauty and wellness, specifically in esthetics and esthetic education.
Ms. Woodsom has established herself as a leading expert in skin care and skin-care services for mature skin, earning widespread recognition for her achievements in esthetics education, beauty and wellness. Currently, she serves as a part-time esthetics instructor at the Institute of Skin Science in New Hampshire. In this capacity, Ms. Woodsom instructs students in the theoretical foundations of skin care, including cosmetic chemistry, skin physiology, and anatomy & physiology. She prepares students for their state board examinations, introduces them to European massage techniques, and demonstrates a variety of advanced machine-based procedures and treatments. Her curriculum is science-based and designed to equip graduates with foundational skills applicable in professional practice.
Additionally, Ms. Woodsom had served as both an esthetics instructor and director of education for over 14 years, at Empire Beauty School locations Portsmouth, Hooksett and Laconia. New Hampshire. Her teaching approach draws on her practical experience operating her own treatment room, Skin Deep Clinical Skincare. There, she performs advanced skincare treatments such as back facials, microdermabrasion with specialized equipment, ultrasonic facial treatments, oxygen-infused facials, hydro-facials and chemical peels. While she is qualified to perform and teaches European massage, it is not a primary service in her practice. By integrating real-world examples from her work into her lessons, Ms. Woodsom ensures that students are well-versed in both traditional and emerging technologies within the field.
From 2012 to 2024, Ms. Woodsom worked as a skin care therapist at Meredith Bay Laser Center in Meredith, New Hampshire. Her focus was on results-driven treatments for mature clients aged 45 and older who were experiencing visible signs of aging. Although she did not personally administer injectable treatments due to regulatory requirements in New Hampshire, she played an essential role in preparing clients' skin for these procedures and supporting treatments by assisting practitioners or offering clients comfort.
Prior to specializing in esthetics, Ms Woodsom owned a waxing studio in New Hampshire and began her professional journey as a cosmetologist after graduating from beauty school at a time when cosmetologists provided hair, skin and nail services before esthetics became recognized as its own discipline.
Ms. Woodsom's commitment to advancing industry standards is further reflected through her service as the esthetic representative on the New Hampshire Board of Barbering, Cosmetology and Esthetics. In this role, she advocates for evolving laws and regulations that keep pace with technological advancements while ensuring practitioners remain within their authorized scope of practice. As a member of Associated Skin Care Professionals (ASCP), she remains actively engaged with national trends and best practices.
Her academic background includes earning a Bachelor of Science degree in organizational management with a minor in early education from Daniel Webster College in Nashua, New Hampshire, in 2002. This degree has proven invaluable when teaching students about business ownership and lesson planning. She also holds a diploma in cosmetology from the Mary Fazio Institute of Beauty Culture in Lawrence, Massachusetts — an achievement that marked the beginning of her long-standing career.
Ms. Woodsom's professional qualifications are extensive: she is a licensed esthetician and cosmetologist in New Hampshire and Maine, holds instructor licensure in both esthetics and cosmetology in New Hampshire, is certified in microblading, dermaplaning and eyelash extensions, and completed the Milady Master Educator Certification Program offered by Milady, a division of Cengage Learning Inc., which included passing a comprehensive written and practical exam. Her passion for continuous learning drives her to stay current with changes within the field of skin care and esthetics.
Throughout her career, Ms. Woodsom has been recognized for her dedication to education and service. In 2026, she became the inaugural recipient of the Instructor of the Year award from Associated Skin Care Professionals — an honor that acknowledged her impact on students and contributions to professional development nationwide. Many students nominated her for this distinction by sharing positive accounts of their experiences under her instruction.
Her civic involvement includes serving as an esthetician board member on the New Hampshire Board of Barbering, Cosmetology and Esthetics, as well as providing facial services during a retreat in 2013 collaborating along with other wellness professionals.
Born in Beverly, Massachusetts, Ms. Woodsom has been married to her husband, James, since 1976, and they have three adult children together. She enjoys collecting vintage textiles, spending time with her children and four grandchildren, and researching genealogy. Her family history features connections to significant events such as the Mayflower Compact, Salem Witch Trials, the Revolutionary and Civil Wars.
Ms. Woodsom's goal is to continue teaching and inspiring students by sharing her knowledge and professional experience gained over decades of working alongside registered nurses and advanced practice registered nurses in medical spa settings. She believes that drawing upon this extensive background allows her to offer insights that enrich student learning beyond standard classroom instruction.
Her perseverance through personal health challenges, including surviving endometrial cancer followed by breast cancer four years later, exemplifies resilience that inspires those around her. Even during treatment periods or after knee replacement surgery that was delayed due to health priorities, Ms. Woodsom remained committed to her students and profession.
With more than 20 years dedicated to advancing beauty and wellness education while maintaining high standards of professionalism within skin care services for mature clients, Ms. Woodsom continues to be recognized as an influential leader whose expertise shapes both current practitioners and future generations entering the field.
