FAIRFIELD, OH, November 05, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David M. Parish has been recognized for achievement in chemical research and consulting.
Mr. Parish's outstanding career in the chemical manufacturing industry spans more than four decades and is marked by a series of progressive leadership roles, technical achievements and entrepreneurial ventures. He is the owner, chief executive officer and chief technology officer of the chemical consulting firm dpChem LLC — established in Fairfield, Ohio in 2022 — where he oversees daily operations, manages client development and reviews approximately 10 potential clients each month for potential new projects.
Also participating in client review meetings, Mr. Parish provides timely updates and contributes to capital expenditure budgeting for clients' laboratories and marketing plans. The founding and growth of dpChem stand among his proudest accomplishments, representing the culmination of his expertise in management, marketing, and technology, with a focus on organic chemistry and sustainable product development.
Prior to establishing dpChem, Mr. Parish served as a research fellow at The Sherwin-Williams Company in Cleveland from 2017 to 2022 — the culmination of more than two decades with the organization. He also spent six years as a senior staff scientist in the protective and marine division, where he continued to build on his extensive background in organic chemistry and new technology discovery. Earlier, from 2000 to 2010, he excelled as a technical director at Sherwin-Williams in Cincinnati; his tenure began after the company acquired General Polymers Corporation, where he had overseen the laboratory as a group manager and subsequently served as its director.
From 1997 to 2000, Mr. Parish operated DMP Chemical Consultants, LLC — his first entrepreneurial venture — through which he consulted with raw material manufacturers and suppliers on chemical formulary matters. He regards the successful establishment of both DMP and dpChem as significant highlights of his career. Before launching his own businesses, he gained valuable leadership experience as vice president of the commercial coatings business unit at ITW-Fiberglass Evercoat from 1988 to 1997. During this period, he developed his first patent for Illinois Tool Works — an achievement that remains a personal milestone due to its technical significance in epoxy chemistry.
Mr. Parish began his professional journey with six years of military service as a crew chief in the United States Air Force from 1974 to 1980. Specializing in one- and two-engine fighter jet propulsion for the F-111 aircraft, he was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada and deployed to Takhli, Thailand, during the final stages of the Vietnam War. This formative experience instilled in him a strong work ethic that has guided every stage of his subsequent consulting career.
Also recognized for his inventive contributions, Mr. Parish has successfully secured more than 20 patents related to resin designs and coating formulary and authored two testing and qualification protocols that were published by ASTM International (formerly the American Society for Testing and Materials) — achievements that have advanced industry standards for chemical testing.
Alongside his primary roles, Mr. Parish is a member of the American Management Association, the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (now AMPP) and the Steel Structures Painting Council (now the Society for Protective Coatings). He is also affiliated with the International Concrete Repair Institute, the Thermoset Resin Formulators Association, the American Chemical Society and Sherwin-Williams Master Minds, reflecting his longstanding commitment to industry engagement and knowledge sharing.
Before venturing onto his professional path, Mr. Parish pursued higher education and earned a Bachelor of Science in organic chemistry from The Ohio State University in 1986. Dedicated to the ideals of continuous learning, he completed a certification program in business management and finance through the American Management Association in 1990.
The values instilled in Mr. Parish by his father — an engineer who contributed to North American Rockwell Corporation's aircraft production during World War II and the Korean War — inspired him to pursue both military service and a career grounded in scientific rigor. His early influences also included teaching chemistry at the high school level with approval from the Ohio Teachers Association, which deepened his understanding of the subject matter while developing the communication skills that proved essential for his later consulting roles.
In his personal life, Mr. Parish has been happily married to his wife, Christa, since 1983. Together, they are the proud parents of one son and one daughter, the latter of whom holds a master's degree in dietetics and began her professional career as a chef. The family relocated from Cleveland to the Cincinnati area to be closer to their children and grandchildren — a decision that allows Mr. Parish to spend meaningful time with his loved ones outside of his work obligations.
Looking to the future with optimism, Mr. Parish remains dedicated to growing dpChem and, if circumstances allow, to eventually passing the business on to his family. His legacy is defined by technical innovation across multiple sectors of chemistry, entrepreneurial success through two self-founded companies, and steadfast dedication to advancing industry standards through both his leadership roles and published protocols.
